Echostar HDS-600RS & Sky Free weekend

This is the Sky free weekend http://www1.skysports.com/football/n...6/Free-weekend. I thought I could get it on my Echostar?

I have done a manual tune on Freq 12110, Symb 27500, Polar H, FEC 2/3 and have found 18 channels including all Sky Sports. I can scroll through them using the channel up / down rocker, but I get no picture for any of them.

Doing a scan on Freq 11836, Symb 27500, Polar H, FEC 2/3, I get another 17 channels most of which I can't watch, but I CAN watch thre Sky Intro and one Sky channel (which is the same as Sky Intro) and listen to one radio station.

Can I watch Sky F1 on my Echostar this weekend?

By free Sky normally mean that the content is still encrypted so needs a sky box with a card. IE Like CH5-HD FTV (Free To View)

Ah! Okay, thanks for that. At least it made me try the Echostar on non-Freesat channels!

I came here with the same question on my Samsung SMT-7800, did a non-freesat scan, and it found all the Sky stuff, all the program info is there, but no picture..

I have an old Sky card, but I don't recall seeing anywhere to put it in the Samsung box...

So it's going to be a RTL/R5Live simucast weekend...

12:50 pm. Me too ... just settling down now to watch on RTL / R5L. I do have a Freesat Sky card but when I tried to access Sky F1 it said the card didn't match the box. So I rang Sky and they did a rematch. Now it says I can't watch Sky F1 'cos I don't actually subscribe to any Sky service! Ah, well. I'd have thought Sky might like Sky Freesat card holders to try the coverage in case they were enthusased enough to get a subscription, but no.

Every time Sky offer these weekends why do people not bother reading the bottom of such adverts which invariably states Sky (and VM) customers only - is this not clear that this means subscribers.

No it isn't. It says 'For any other platform, please contact your provider.', which implies it might work on something else. Anyway, I could be construed as a Sky subscriber ... I paid £20 odd for my Freesat from Sky card !!

You are NOT a Sky customer - you are a FreesatFromSky customer and have a FSFS card - two different platforms. Considering Sky also run the FSFS platform do you not think that they would also specifically mention that? There are other platforms - smaller cable companies for example.

They are certainly a Sky customer. What they are not is a current Sky subscriber. Do Sky not understand the difference or are they being willfully misleading?

Well, I don't care any more. I've had fun finding out what will and won't work with the Echostar and I had fun watching the German GP thanks to RTL & R5L and I approve of the post-race decision (and would have approved had it been Button overtaking Vettel).

Whatever Sky's intention or otherwise and however pedantic one wants to be, the upshot is that I haven't been able to sample Sky's F1 so am not encouraged to subscribe.

What do you want to sample? It's F1 all day long LOL It's not like there was a catch somewhere in the schedule
