I agree with you
there are a few people in CS who can't act

Agree, old Ryan was sweet and introvert compared to this cocky so and so. Really don't like him, and Michelle was a loving mum, so can't see what excuse he has.

very true.

Utter tripe. Barbara Knox is one of the finest actresses on the show, nay television as a whole.

As for the topic in question, NuRyan is a vast improvement on the old one. He's a great addition to the cast. The fact he's easy on the eye is a plus, too. And unlike some po faced contributors earlier in this thread, actually I do think his looks make the transition more enjoyable.

Nothing wrong with a good bit of old fashioned rivalry.

Emmy upped the stakes by casting a dwarf as lanky Megan's son - so, determined not to be outdone, Corrie responded by introducing Michelle's older brother as her son.

Take that Emmy!

In 4 episodes he has:

- Got a complete personality transplant
- Set fire to No.13
- Came onto Sophie knowing she was a lesbian
- Gloats about how he slept with so many woman
- Fakes an accident in Underworld and blames Kirk
- Threatens to sue Underworld and his family runs it!
- Doctor gives him the all clear, yet he walks around on crutches still
- When he's caught lying, he doesn't show any remorse
- Fights Rob

How are supposed to like Ryan if he's done all this in the space of 3 days! These things should have been done over the space of a month, and I might like him a bit more. I just hate him completely now. And him and his "mother" look the exact same age.

Blame the writers, not him. I can't believe how bad it's been just lately. Really, really bad.

Pretty amazing really that Ryan still wasn't the most unbelievable part of this week's Corrie.

That distinction goes to Kirsty who, completely straight-faced, described gormless Fizz as "pretty."

Stuff like this just shows how much Corrie suffers under the pressure of 5 or 6 episodes per week. All of that happened within the course of a day or two - ridiculous.

Had it played out over a couple of weeks, it might've been a bit more believable.

What I've hated even more, though is the scripting - Ryan has come out with some cringe-o-rama words and phrases that I cannot imagine, the worst being describing his biceps as "the twins"

I don't think that Sol Heras is doing that bad a job, it's just the scripting, storylining and pacing that's been particularly poor. I think that he did a great job at playing a drugged up Ryan last night. I might've been the only one to notice it but he came back from the toilet and sniffed as if he'd been snorting something and for the rest of the episode the actor bounced around like he was high. The refusal to serve him and everyone thinking he was 'drunk' was great and very quietly underplayed - Ryan was clearly on summit. The problem, again, was the words that came out of his mouth - terrible.

I'm not buying that mother and son combo AT ALL. It's pretty strange to watch isn't it?

I did however think Eva was brillant last night. She's turning out to be quite a charactor.

Yes its always a problem when characters are recast, its almost like they have completely forgotten the way Ryan was before he left Weatherfield and the new actor looks to be trying to make the character his own but perhaps its too far and too fast.

This should have been done with a slower build up so that the character can develop this new found personality. Ryan was never like this before, I know that some lads can go off the rails, especially when they live away from their parents for the first time and get in with the wrong crowd but he has changed way too much in the short time he has been away.

I would like to add though that Corrie did this with Tracy when she came back after being away for a few years. Granted she was never perfect but the character that came back was 100 times worse than Dawn Acton portrayed her and I don't remember people making such a fuss back then, though not many had the Internet back then either!

He looks way too old to be Michelle's son. He looks more like her brother.

I think that was the purpose behind the new personality. It wouldn't have worked with the old Ryan or someone who looked about 19/20 years old. He's supposed to be a bad lad and I think his image is all part of it.

He's bloody gorgous though you have to admit, I want him and Rob to get it on And he was in Rock Rivals with his Uncle Paul Connor! I knew I recognised him from somewhere!

And you're right. He's 25 in real life and Kym Marsh is 36 lol.

Yes - this is true.

Don't forget, though, that Dawn Action delivered Tracy's best ever line (and my favourite so I repeat it as often as I can!)

"I hate you you rotten, cowin' tart!"

So far he hasnt made a good impression because of all the points the OP made.
I dislike ryan and rob, both cringey characters, who cant really act, and personally dont find them attractive at all.
