This is a fair review and I agree totally. Apart from the song cuts and the sound quality, I thought all the performances were great.
I'd give it a 9/10 and probably rate it as the best concert I've been too (not experiencing any of her other tours in person). I wish I could remember more of the HIStory tour by MJ, because he is my favourite artist and unfortunately I was still a kid when I saw him. Happy I've seen them both though!

Boysfor pele....
I totally agree with your comments . It was a fabulous night . I first saw her 20-odd years ago , and this time I would argue the overall show was better . I didn't even notice the rain at the end (it was only in the final 5 minutes and was a light drizzle) as I was caught up in the event and enjoying myself thoroughly . Her opening sequence was incredible. We were near the front , so we had a good view. My highlights : Seeing her getting driven into the venue with the police escort. The soundcheck. The opening sequence - the whole thing was very emotional for me , and I almost get a tear in the eye thinking about it. Express Yourself -unbef****lievable performance. Like A Prayer- another tear in the eye moment when the choir come out. |

Looking back at my videos from Birmingham, they are so shaky because of the man next to me who couldn't stop dancing and was more in my seat than his own haha < just a momentum that somebody else enjoyed the night.

Can Madonna come and do a month long residency at Cardiff International Arena? I'd go to every night! Lol. Oh well, no harm in dreaming, heehee.

HEART fm are doing a Madonna special. Like a look back at her career and views and opinions from fans and big celebrities.
George Michael said that Pop music would be poor without her and Emma Bunton said she used to do dress up Madonna parties. |

thank you Catboy and Jadebutterfly for your kind words... I was knackered when I wrote that review but it was from how I genuinely felt.... and from what I genuienly experienced....
What struck me overwhelmingly was the support for Madonna...she really is so admired....and it was so great to hear people around me (young and older and much older!!!) shout things...like yes she is the Queen....no question.....and laugh at her interactions and reveals! Masterpiece was truly beautiful. And snippets of her classics were so greatly received it was heartbreaking to see that for the casual fan - as they wanted more. And I do understand and appreciate that - as she really is a legend. Lets face it in our time MJ and M are the founding King and Queens of Pop. It was clear that Gang Bang was given the treatent it deserved - so Tarantino. But actually it was the superbowl themed Express Yoruself, Give Me All Your Luvin that really impressed me, yet made more envious of that very US special performance. I am hoping that maybe she does tour again soon and based on the twinkle in her eyes it really is the folky/rock that inspires her musically. So her next album should really explore this. Call Brian Eno for production. For collaborative song writing call: Air, Royksopp, and P Leonard. |

Quite a poor special of Madonna
They go from her Like a prayer era to then her Music era, ignoring Erotica, Bedtime Stories and Ray of light. An awful tribute to an Icon. |

I was at Murrayfield last night and was fortunate to have watched show from golden triangle it was fantastic to be up close and it proved to me after seeing and hearing her at sound check with no make up that the British press are still hell bent on bringing her down. the way they have portrayed her the last few weeks is nothing more than ageisim and guess what two sixteen year olds who were with me last night loved her they said they never expected what they witnessed,
And why would they with all the crap that has been written about her !! Madonna wouldn't conform 25 years ago and she won't conform now that's who and what she is. Some have complained that it wasn't loud enough I was so close I don't know what it sounded like from further back but I have to agree with post about stupid health & safety in this country yes there are houses around the murrayfield area but having a few concerts a year surely can't be that much of a problem when you think of the revenue it brings to city ie hotels, food, pubs not to mention extra staff for venue they should be encouraging these gigs instead of threats if you use the replica gun we will pull the plug if you run over we will pull the plug if its to loud we will pull the plug etc etc they need to get a grip and think of the bigger picture I think Madonna has one more world tour in her maybe the hits one and I wouldn't blame her if she excluded the UK after everything that's been thrown at her if that tour ever happens I for one will be at it no matter what country . |

Every time I go see her I am amazed at all the love and support she has. The press try and bring her down but she has provided the soundtrack to so many lives and people have grown up with her and will always appreciate her for that, no bad press can ever take away the magic of her music and the memories her songs bring

Just got back from Edinburgh. My whole body hurts from dancing. The stadium was packed full of people of all ages, from all works of life, all there to enjoy the night. It was electric and worth every penny. Friendly crowd, body moving music and a visual spectacular but with 30 years of experience what else do you expect?

I agree, I liked that review - it's kinda how I felt, but I was in Golden Circle, so I had a decent view (right near the triangle stage too, boy was my body sore after nearly 7 hours of standing haha).

MJ and Madonna are the gig kings and queens. Others that come close are Prince, U2, Take That, Pink, Beyonce and Kylie. MJ and Madonna have always been perfectionist showmanship performers who put on a show spectacle that have shaped many since. |

With news that Paris Olympia being a stripped back gig..... What are everyone's song additions that they would welcome......
For me the standout songs from MDNA are Masterpiece, I'm A Sinner, I'm Addicted, Gang Bang, Beuatiful Sinner. All contain that catchy addictive, ear catching quality. GMAYL and GGW are great songs too but are more Madonna by numbers in some ways and make great album tracks rather than single releases. GMAYL suffered as it had been leaked 6 months before release and was hardly different. But it is a good pop song and was great on the tour and at the Super Bowl. management should have released the Avicii or Demolition mix November time. Masterpiece should have had a first week of Jan release. And I'm Addicted/I'm A Sinner should have had a March release ( pre weeks to album) . Gang Bang could have been the final release summer or later summer after TUTR ( if it had an Olympics sponsorship - PEPSI???). Unfortunately - bad management has been evident. As harsh it sounds, it is time to cut the strings from G O, but that just be hard after over 15 years.... But she needs fresh thinking. And fresh fighting for her rights. Orbitt was right. The song she recorded that was given to C Brown has been a world wide hit. It's like a cooler edgier brother to GGW. The only thing I do respect management wise has been the US focus, a much needed injection for a neglected demographic in the last 6 years. The next demo she needs to embrace is Australia. I so feel for her fans there. |

just also wanted to say the Murrafield was a sell out (based on viewing) .... was Birmingham and Hyde Park...? Murrayfield was supposed to have sold poorly - that clearly wasnt the case.... and Edinburgh was so geared up for the gig too.
it is a pretty crap venue for a concert. of all the stadium gigs i've been to, it has the worst atmosphere, no matter who is playing. if you are close to the front then you won't notice the stadium itself so much, but from the stands or near the back it's pretty grim really. i don't like sport as it is, so standing in such a concrete and steel cold place must be pretty awful. at least at hampden the stage is usually sideways instead of longways, as it's a bigger ground, and that makes for a much better feel, but it does cut a lot of space off. add the edinburgh excuse for weather to an open stadium, and it really puts people off these type of gigs. it's almost a guarantee that it will rain at murrayfield, even in the middle of july, and it's quite open and bad for being a wind trap too. last night was a warm night generally and madonna was cold, plus it rained for a capital city, edinburgh really lacks decent live music venues, and that's why most artists play glasgow instead where they have the SECC and barrowlands. in edinburgh you have the corn exchange which is about 3,000 capacity and the playhouse which is also about 3,000 capacity (usher hall is the same), and if you want bigger than that you have to play a stadium, which few bands can do. so edinburgh gets skipped most of the time. it's even lacking in smaller venues. and of course for outdoor gigs you can only play in summer and venues are only allowed a few licenses so you only get a few gigs. you are fine if you like trams though. and don't mind waiting for them... |

it was far from sold out, ticket sales were actually pretty poor. so much so that ticketmaster gave out a load of free tickets twice to try and fill the venue

Yep was full from my view only two crossed out stands due to obstruction views. The standing was full too.

The free tickets from Ticketmaster was a technical glitch during the competition stage. It was formally explained by Ticketmaster. I'm not sure about the back of the stadium but from what I can see, the East Stand was completely packed. Not 1 empty seat to be seen. The West Stand looks pretty full as well. If you're referring to the "south east" and south west" side of the South Stand. They have obstructed views from the technician platform so I don't think many people would want to buy them (it carries a warning if you want to buy them on Ticketmaster).
large venues will also regularly block of huge areas if tickets aren't selling so it looks more full, or similarly do things to add more seats, like shortening the stage or space between stage and audience TM actually gave away quite a considerable amount of tickets for free, and it wasn't a technical glitch. do you really think the largest ticket company in the world would do something like that? and it would just be a coincidence that it happened for a gig that wasn't selling well? even william ockham wouldn't go for that |

that was the official explanation, but you'd wet your pants if you heard some of the stories about what TM get up to. for a start, with the MJ shows they only put half the tickets onsale and then claimed the gigs were all sold out, then managed to find more tickets to sell later on, using "sold out" to try and make people panic buy etc

Just got home from Edinburgh after last night and thought I would share my two pence
![]() The show itself was incredible. I've been a HUGE Madonna fan for years and this was my first time live - it was brilliant to just be there. Truly awesome. However, I wasn't too impressed at her cutting out 'I'm Addicted' and 'Like a Virgin'. I'm Addicted was the one MDNA so I was most looking forward too, so that was disappointing. If she knew she had an 11pm curfew she should have been on that stage on time. If curfews are a problem she should have stuck to arenas. I can totally understand her wanting to start the show later though. When darkness fell (around the time of Vogue) the whole atmosphere just changed. The stage looked incredible. I paid for the cheap seats (if £77 can be called cheap ) and was sat in the south stand. Now, i'm guessing these seats were bought by the more casual fans because nobody around me knew ANY of her new tracks. Because MDNA has spawned no hit singles, none of her new material had any real effect. It wasn't until 'Papa Don't Preach' kicked in (about 4 songs into the show) that my area started to pay attention. That was a shame because it kinda dampened the atmosphere. This leads me to suggest that her next album NEEDS promotion. Without promotion she doesn't get hits, which in turn leads to no album sales, which in turn leads to going on tour and singing songs which nobody knows. I really hope she doesn't follow this path for future albums. It doesn't work. ![]() The lack of her audience interaction was also a shame, but to her credit she did apologise and said she had been told to keep the show moving in order to meet the curfew. The Like a Prayer / Celebration finale was one of the best show endings i've ever seen. As I said before, the stage lights under that dark sky were just stunning. I also loved Vogue, Express Yourself, I Don't Give A, and also the brilliantly done 'Justify My Love' and 'Nobody Knows Me' interludes. They were like mini works of art.I dragged my two mates with me and they both loved the show too, so hopefully next time we will splash out on the more expensive tickets and sit with the more like-minded M fans. I could see from my seats that the crowd in the East stand were having a ball throughout! Don't get me started on the car park situation though. Oh my goodness... I almost abandoned my car on a grass verge. Never in my life I have seen such atrocious parking facilities. Overall, 8/10 I can confirm that I will be listening to MDNA on repeat for quite a while.
