Black Madonna return? Madonna never leaves her ideas on the shelf for long, so perhaps this could be the shocker! I'm so happy to see she's hiding in studios again so quickly, even if its just to leave memos/ideas to work with post-tour. She needs that vital 3-4 month break off first so she can come back more fierce than ever. Madonna definitely knows this era could have gone better and it was all a label experiment/test. I hope she keeps her Twitter account permanently, imagine that...the Queen tweeting about her life...then again she doesn't strike me as the kind of woman who would tweet what she has for breakfast/what shoes she likes etc. I would like her to do a blog/Tumblr thing because that would be more something up her street where she could post about inspirations in her life/art etc.
In a generation where artists are paying respects/showcasing their influences through their new music most recent example being Ke$ha with Iggy Pop etc it would be interesting to see Madonna fully embrace her inspirations and manifest those sounds into a record, would definitely be one for the cards. Plus R&B can be so sexual and red is a very sexy colour again...hint hint ![]() Plus those old school sounds are never dated, some artists are fantastic at mixing those vibes and making them sound refreshing - huge example being Lana Del Rey taking those old 40s/50s vibes and meshing them with some hip-hop/little elements of dance. Perhaps LDR is an unofficial trendsetter for a new direction the way that Madonna did back in 05 with the dance trend and Kylie/Britney in 2007. ![]() But yes I feel Old Skool R&B sounds like Marvin, like Sly Stone, Fela Kuti, like a really gritty Soul/Funk/Alternative Dance/Bluesy/Rock-ish album with a reinvented image, style and vibe that is true to herself ![]() And yes really meld colours and styles together....i mean right now it is kinda like a celebration of pop culture within pop culture...that seems to be where we are heading...in my recent Empire magazine there are articles with Clint Eastwood, Arnold Schwarzenegger, archives from Alfred Hitchcock and overviews by Danny Boyle, Tarantino, David Lynch and stuff and its all like...wow i remember...or how cool would that be?? so i feel it is all getting rooted again. And yes Lana Del Rey this year has injected that retro pop feel and tempo...again, like David Lynch incorporated into the Twin Peaks series soundtrack, Blue Velvet film, that kinda trippy/retro style brought into contemporary styles. Its a bit forward thinking and same with Ke$ha this side of the year...Iggy Pop, odes to Tribal sounds and political 70s Rock in there as well as Synthpop an contemporary sonics/Electropop...but it is a way forward. So imagine if and when Madonna takes time out after the MDNA tour and really jots down ideas and concepts of where to head next...look a demos/past recordings and push forward into a really inspired and genuine new era...something fresh and iconic for this decade and for the future to reflect massively on. I reckon its coming, but the speculation is always massive. As for social media...i love the minimalism...i love that Madonna ahs such mystery around her...but maybe if she teases or Interscope tease on Twitter as they do/did on Facebook earlier this year you know...and treat it like that like pics of M in the studio...video diaries that kinda thing and see the album coming together without giving too much away. |

The latest rumour about the Marvin Gaye cover is she might perform it at the Grammys since apparently they are doing some kind of tribute to him. Also, she is supposed to be working with a legendary producer on it, someone who she wanted to work with before but apparently Warner didn't want her to. Some people are speculating it might be Quincy Jones.

To be fair, Black Madonna was Hard Candy. There was no other concept for it and it would have been no different to what Hard Candy was. The cover of Black Madonna was shot and they were all set to run with it. She just changed the title and dropped the album cover because Warner saw it and then shat themselves over it. Madonna herself then realised it would have caused great offence. One of the only two times Madonna has backed down. The only other time being the American Life video.
This assumption Black Madonna was a different sounding album isn't true at all. The only other sound thrown around for Hard Candy was the follow up to Confessions which is where the likes of Broken (I'm Sorry) come from. Broken was not a Celebration outtake. It was recorded in 2007. This was dropped for the RnB sound instead. Although elements of Broken were adapted for Miles Away just like how Keep The Trance was adapted into Hey you. Its clever how she does that. |

My all time artist and my favourite male artist (alongside Bowie) ah man ![]() ![]() I hope it is true...and Quincy Jones would be something epic....I am pretty glad they hadnt worked together beforehand actually...but now for something like this would be just astounding seriously! And tbh i thought Black Madonna was the original concept before it was Licorice...then Candy Shop...then give It 2 Me and finall Hard Candy....Black Madonna was initially going to be the Pet Shop Boys/Stuart Price/The Neptunes inspired album before Timbaland came into it....thats what i thought anyhow....but there must have been so many many ideas and concepts unused with that working title. |

And in other news...Madonna was bashed in the eye during the intense sequence of "gang bang" she bled on stage but kept performing....took a bit longer at an interlude and got cleaned up and continued to perform at her top ability
https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...52549326_n.jpg Faultless, absolutely a reason why she inspires me too...no matter how many knocks....continue and do it for the greater good the best you can do....if it was anyone else they may have stopped altogether but Madonna carries on and delivers the BEST! man ![]() AAAAND...in Williams (Feat Britney) Scream & Shout features a cameo of Madonna on a t shrit from Bye Bye Baby i wanted that shirt from ebay when i browsed the otherday (before i bought the Madonna Complex shirt)
