The child abusing allegations killed Michael's career though. It wasn't to do with Age etc etc. Plus Michael didn't release any material for several years. If anything, Michael had a lot of respect before he died and still has it now. Nothing changed. Well from my perspective.

Thats a great article and it is so sad to think that it will take her death for people to realise how incredible this woman is. The exact same happened with Michael Jackson. The fact is Madonna IS the last of the big global superstars and we need to celebrate her while we can. When she leaves us there will never, ever, be another.

Exactly- the media fawning and faking will be disgusting. I think as well though that MJ had gained a bit of respect before his death, yet its sad to see that Madonna, who has never had a breakdown or failure on that scale still gets ripped to shreds. And whilst the press have had it in for her before I feel like with the MDNA era they have been especially brutal

Ageism is the last acceptable prejudice. It's been around forever and in most cultures. I don't think Madonna can win it - being older in a youth-orientated medium like the dance genre of the record industry AND being still sexually active AND female. I'll be honest - if I was 20 now I would not be buying the music of a 54 year old. To top it off she's been teasing that copycat singer who has a notoriously aggressive fanbase.
If she wore long even dresses and sang ballads like Diana Ross or became virtual reclusive like Kate Bush or an eccentric ethereal pixie like Mariah, or even lived off her back catalogue, she would be more thought of ... sadly. |

Hit Em Up Style I didnt know about the targeted trolling to that extent, its shocking. I feel like, although the tour and album were generally well received, the ageism and sexism going on in the media seems to drown out the positives of the campaign.

I remember seeing it on tumblr, that this was their plan. Some people need to get out more or shouldn't be allowed 'tinternet access. Seen as though I have had my uni place confirmed today I've decided to treat myself to some Madonna dvds...truth or dare being one because I can't believe I don't own it. what a shit fan. lol.EDIT it was when she made the reductive comment. |

There was a campaign by a certain group of fans where they chose a day and commented on everything Madonna related...twitter/tumblr/youtube videos/articles. You name it, they called it her. Hagdonna, c*ntdonna were two of the most popular.

Omg they need to get a life. Little Monsters (I actually hate that weird cultlike thing they have going on) are the worst fan group. I miss the days of Christina V Britney haha.

I remember crying when she visits her moms grave though. I think it's been mentioned before but has anyone ever watched innocence lost? a film on her life. I love that film. I might watch it again tonight. |

Oh I cannot wait for this!!
Also on a rather unexpected note. Lady Gaga has told her fans on her social networking site, via a chat room, "Honestly, don't shade Madonna." Lets hope they listen. I hope the media report this as well. Its about time she put her fans into check. |

Oh really? i am glad...much like i like Kylie, Janet, Cyndi...i like gaga but these fanwars get out of hand...and i hope they listen...sure Kylie, Janet have a section of their fanbases that cannot accept anyone else other than their artist....which i find so funny as Madonna fans we are such an open minded bunch and give everyone and everything a chance tbh! i am glad gaga is giving her fans a chance though because i feel even she knows this little monster thing has a sell by date, so appreciate everything before it is gone

The fact that Madonna is streaming the gig has more than made up for the fact that my face is sunburnt and you can see where my sunglasses were. How very attractive.
I'll watch it live or catch it Saturday if it's still on youtube though. Ever since M dedicated masterpiece to the fans in B'ham whenever I listen to that song it makes me both happy and sad. Beautiful song. Sooo tempted to get some of the lyrics tattooed on my ribs. I can never decide what M tattoo to get though. hmmm. |
