My least favourite is also Hard Candy, but I also really dislike the Like a Prayer artwork.

Josh, under the Live Nation agreement, she is contracted to just ONE more world tour after this one. By the time she engages upon that tour she will be nearly 60 so there is, sadly, no guarantee she'll continue touring on the scale that she is now after her current contract ends.

I think the reason why was because she was so caught up with Dick Tracy sadly I don't think she had the time maybe to do a little SNL set or something like that

Fave cover.....Like A Prayer cover...elastic love how dare you not :sleep:....also the Erotica pop art/Warholian feel is sublime....the Ray Of Light wind/oceanic/space feel behind it...very sci-fi, very beautiful, COADF...the idea of her as this colourful trippy figure caught in pose in a Dark Disco space and MDNA with the distorted face and high fashion look is so intense and sharp!

Least favourite, i find Im Breathless a bit of a rush job using the Dick Tracey promos for artwork is a bit cheap, Hard Candy felt like a mish mash of ideas that never became truly realised.

While Dick tracey is one of my favourite films ever tbh! I do agree that filming that and time spent on it really took up time on promoting Like A Prayer with more performances and potential releases from the album etc...but alas!

Lauren shouldn't have gone, though neither should Luke A...it's become a train-wreck of a show

But tbh she has also said so many times she will perform until she dies tbh...probably even beyond...again we will have to see where it truly takes us but i can see her really promoting into her 70s...only on grander scale than Tina Turner and Dietrich did of course :sleep:

I really dont know if there is truly a "perfect tour"....but there is so much potential for one heck of a lot...which is why its so hard...i mean there has never been and never be another MADONNA...its so tough to pick the right or "right" albums songs, previous singles to suit the tour and each era.

i am also wondering if the next era will be mainly focused on album promo and then wait to go on tour till a bit after and then release another studio album and tour to promote both and really wait until both albums have momentum....and save everything (or have tour/s on pause) for a few years until there is so much more material/many more aspects to perform on such a massive scale tbh.

Ohh I got my friend from twitter a Madonna t shirt from the tour because she couldn't get to the ques in Hyde Park. I hope it gets there for monday. She was going to order off the website but they took the piss with my last order. Also my free gift never came. I'm going to email again tomorrow...they're going to hate me.

It was different in those days Josh. Like A Prayer was a hugely anticipated album. Madonna had been away since December 1987 and during a time when someone THAT successful was absent, anticipation for a new release was high. Also back then Freddy DeMann was her manager and he was clever by just releasing occasional news snippets about her to keep people interested. Then of course the song itself premiered some four weeks before the actual release on the Pepsi advert and a week later the video (official) was aired on MTV and all the furore started which was the best publicity Madonna could have had. Advance sales for the album (in those days you would go to your record store and pay for the album in advance to guarantee your copy) were huge purely down to the publicity.

Madonna reached number 1 at Easter 1989 with the single and album of Like A Prayer. Thereafter, due to her being a sought after artist, she was heard everywhere. The album promoted the BA tour and the BA tour promoted LAP, IB and Dick Tracy. The promotion that era was spot on, purely because of her 15 month absence then wooosh! She was everywhere! And, the songs that era were cracking too. A genius way of promoting.

I remember my friend of mine that lives Stateside had that rare Pepsi can that had Like A Prayer World Tour labelled on it with a drawing of Madonna a la Pepsi LAP ad!

Just imagine what the LAPWT may have been like without Dick Tracey too??? hmmm! i mean it would have been that landmarking scale of course as she had across 1989 really wanted to bring what she has learnt of Broadway to Music Theatre and make an unconventional Rock Show the new conventional utilising it with her latest material with her Like A Prayer album project.

And Dick Tracey i think further pushed the potential for her to heighten the sheer scale of the tour production too.

WOWSERS that really makes the album heighten a heck of a lot more of epicness!

Oh to have been around then to really have experienced it....also Like A Prayer off the back of that to have sold millions of copies too despite Dick Tracey taking up filming time etc/// these days it may kill an album project...and often has done i guess that is a parallel to how music was marketed and is today (or is not by some degrees!)

When I first played the song Like A Prayer my dad asked me who it was. He said he liked Madonna but when I told him it was Madonna singing he had a right go at me because he didn't believe me. To this day he remembers this argument, and to this day he says Like A Prayer is the most powerful song he has ever heard. Such was the epicness mate! Yes, those were the days. They were effing magic.
