Rita Ora - The next worldwide star?

Am I the only one in thinking that Rita Ora has the potential to be a worldwide star?

Her first two singles she has released are great - I prefer How We Do to R.I.P, she reminds me of Rihanna when she first started out.

She tried to release How We Do in the US and it hasn't worked out yet. She still has 1 or 2 lives left yet, but I think she's too similar to other artists, and if she keeps on trying eventually people will just get sick of her.

Dunno really... I don't think there's really anything special/ different about her, she is isn't distinctive and her voice (though good) sounds different in every song so far...Saying all this, I still like her though.

I just don't see her ever becoming MASSIVE worldwide.
I think she could possibly have Jay Sean/Taio Cruz success (IE.. A couple of hits, but woeful album sales.. But not sustainable domination)

I honestly don't even think she'll have a long career here in the UK...

Rita is difficult to work out im not sure I think she has the potential to do really well. She has a great image, personality and she has a good singing voice. It is making her different from those out there. The states take a long time for a single to catch on so it could still be a decent top 20 billboard hit. I think she should have solely concentrated on Europe first though, its difficult to promote globally all at once. Best example of this was with Leona and Echo.

I don't think she's unique enough to break internationally. She sounds like a lot of other artists in the charts at the minute and there is nothing original about her sound or style. She will have a huge UK career though no doubt.

My thoughts exactly.

I could see her breaking the US with a big hit, though probably not with her current material...rather a collab with Jay Z/Drake/Rihanna.

She needs to bring out better material....How We Do is so generic, I think she's better than that.

Imo, with better material she could definitely breakout as a worldwide star. However, it will not last. The fact she's already pegged with Rihanna so much will not work in her favour, nobody wants a second Rihanna. She's also being treated like Rihanna in the sense, so far the material released she's not contributed too. So essentially she's being fed her music like Rihanna is.

I think Rita is just for the moment. Don't get me wrong, I love the two singles she's already released, but I reckon when it comes to album #2 she'll bomb. It's how people like Jason DeRulo, Iyaz, Jay Sean, Taio Cruz came about. They had a lot of success when they first fully hit the scene, but on return, people weren't really invested

I'm just not getting big potential star vibes from Ms Ora. She's got great backing so we will see.

Agree.. Especially the Bit in Bold...

Interestingly all of those artists had one or two number one-hits here and in the US... But sold very, very few albums both here and in the US....And personally, I don't expect Rita Ora to sell many albums either. She's like Derulo and Taio to me, in the sense that lots of people will love her 'songs', but not necessarily 'her' as an artist.
Which is what seperates buying just a single from buying a whole album (endorsing/investing in an artist).

I doubt she'll even last a couple of years with this kind of attention/interest. Sure, she'll have a few more hits, maybe even one in the US (featuring Jay Z)... and then will join the list of many artists who kinda dissapear.

But with Jay Z backing her, she'll probably have some form of career, even if behind the scenes.

Jay-z also backed Teairra Marie and Chrisette Michelle. Last I checked, they weren't exactly doing a lot.

True Hence "behind the scenes"...
I like Rita... So I guess I was just trying to put a postitive spin on the end - after all of my predictions that her career will be short

But...Chrisette Michele hasn't done too badly for herself, and is recording a new album. And she isn't a 'Pop' act in the same sense as Rita.
Rita Ora will be lucky to sell over 400,000 copies of her debut album worldwide, let alone in the US alone.

honestly, i hope not. she's just average at best. there are so many more talented singers who deserve that spot. im from the US and i will tell you that we dont respect her that much. her music doesnt get played so unless you are looking for it most people dont know it. at the moment we know rita ora for dating rob kardashian, drake, and being in drakes video, and also being what rihanna was to jay-z. it's funny because she looks like a clone of rihanna and beyonce. if she wanted to be huge she should have never signed to roc nation. everyone knows that. roc nation and bad boy are notorious for bringing out flops. bad boys recent success was j. cole, but even then he had to do it all himself pretty much. personally, i just dont like her very much. her songs arent interesting, and she already lost points with me for not writing her own material. most dont care about that, but i think writing is important.

If Jay-Z can get her collaborations, she should do well.

It's how Rihanna reached the level she's at sure.

At the same time though, you have to wonder why Jay-Z is backing the 'second Rihanna' when Rihanna herself is going strong...Rihanna might see Rita as an usurper and try and block her success if she sees her as a threat which is how she seems to be being marketed...

Didn't Jay Z sign Ora when he thought he might be losing Rihanna?

she's been signed to roc nation since like 05-06. she was one of those artists that get signed and then gets put on the shelf until the label feels like it needs something. that's the reason chris brown didnt sign to def jam back then because they had rihanna, neyo, and a few others starting to get noticed and he knew they wouldnt get him any exposure just like jay-z did to rita ora until recently

Yeterday heard what I assume is her latest single `Party and B.S.` as it was called on my mobile; Great! but unfortunately the `B.S.` part of the chorus was bleeped out. Heard it again today and it sounds like it comes with the bleep. Weird choice for a hit follow-up single, but a good song. I wouldnt have guessed it was her if my mobile hadn`t told me.Rihanna meets Katy Perry meets a little Keisha (remember her?)

I can't stand this woman. She looks like a pound shop version of Gwen Stefani yet she can't carry it off. Personally, I had no problem with this woman until she lied and said she was offered "Call My Name" but turned it down as it wasn't the sort of song she wanted. This was laughable as Calvin Harris confirmed it wasoffered to Cheryl and only Cheryl. Plus, "how we do" is the most generic sounding thing out there yet she made a dig at CMN?

Very telling she has to use Cheryl's name to get her publicity. Enjoy your 15 minutes, Rita.
