Can't access Humax Foxsat box

Hi

I installed Raydon'd 4.0.7 software the other night. I got the web interface and installed Twonky server. I think I might have disabled the Web Interface (Mongoose) as this is no longer available. I also can't access the box by FTP or telnet...It isn't a network issue as I can telnet to port 9000 and handshake with Twonky.

I have tried reverting the software back and had no success, so is it possible to connect anyhow to the machine, or reset it so that I can telnet to it...I am sure I could fix it if I could open a telnet session, but my worry is, I have disabled this service too.

All I think I have running now is Twonky. The box seems to be be working functionally as a HDR luckily My kids can still watch Ben and Holly!

Thanks a lot

A.

Firstly reboot the Foxsat then:
1. Check the IP on the Foxsat setup menu - it might of changed.
2. You should be able to connect to the Foxsat using the IP address via ftp or samba (samba share will be \\ipaddress\Media which you should be able to map as a network drive by entering the string rather than searching)

Hi

Thanks for your reply. As far as I can see samba is not running, telnet is not running, ftp is running, but I have tried every combination of HumaxFTP, humaxftp, Humaxftp, and every password I could have previously changed it to on the machine, so basically I can't connect. The only service that is running properly is Twonky, which is nice, but I really want to connect by Telnet and run some of the commands like dedup.

I think the problem I had was I messed around with the package management on the Web interface, which is now not running.

I am hoping there is a way to reinstall the firmware to its original state, but when I do this, it seems to keep returning to this state.

If I can't do this, I can see I am going to have to remove the drive and mount it on my Linux machine to make the relevant changes, but I don't really want to do this.

Hope you can help

I do not understand why you should want to change so much - If you have a non routable Ip address such as anything commencing with 192.168 then nothing can ever get to your PC.

Hi

I installed Twonky. I disabled Mongoose, because I didn't think I needed it aaaaarrgh! These were the only services that were enabled.

Is there any way to revert this? Can I use the USB boot mechanism to install/enable/modify any service? If I can get Telnet or Samba working, I am set.

You are the first to disable mongoose. If you look at the origional install you should see a telnet package. Place on a USB stick.insert it and it will auto install. You should then reboot and you should have telnet. Telnet ro the Foxsat and use the service command to set mongoose to autostart and again to start it.

Cool

I have it running now. I am often the first to the stupid things!

For anybody else the packages are here http://hummypkg.org.uk/foxsat/

Download the relevant .opk file. Telnet for example.

Mongoose can be reneabled by /opt/bin/service start mongoose
/opt/bin/service auto mongoose

Cheers mate.
