IMO the song is a mess. Mariah is known for her incredible voice, and this type of song makes her sound ridiculous. Just this morning I was listening to her GH album, which is why it saddens me to hear this now. The golden voice is gone, and I think the more she releases poor music the more damage she may cause to her legacy.

Can’t fall down stay triumphant keep on living
Stay on your toes
Get off the ropes
Don’t let em ever count you out
Realize all things are possible
In your heart who’s the greatest
Reach for the stars
Be all that you are
And make em all fall down

MARIAH YOU ARE BACK, NONE OF THESE BIATCHES CAN REPLACE YOU!

Tbh it seems to be fans with a problem and casual listeners like it, which is only a good thing.

I'm really liking this although I agree that it is too much MM and RR on the track as much as I like them both. It's not going to be #1 everywhere but it should still do OK in the US, Urban/Rhythmic stations will love this.

That's promising. Can you imagine when I first heard We belong together I thought it was just ok

I love the song. It's so nice, and it's great to see a female pop singer doing something DIFFERENT for a change! Mariah is just incredible, I'll be listening to this song a lot I think.

I missed the peaceful sound of R'n'B this is why I like the song. The only thing that did not make me love the song is that there was two awful rappers on it and couldn't here much Mariah on it. I don't think this will be a hit but I liked to be proven wrong.

If I was to hear this on the radio and not know who it was, I would think it was a song featuring Mariah Carey. I am very dissapointed. It reminds me of Keri Hilson's 'Knock You Down' where it featured Kanye and Ne-Yo and she only sung for one verse, which was annoying because it was a good song.

I love Mariah but damn this song is boring. If it was just her singing the whole thing I wouldn't mind it as much but I'm so sick of rent-a-rappers on every other song around today. They bore me to pieces and, imo, completely ruin so many potentially good songs with their cliched ramblings that sound so dated. Especially as their rapping sounds so lazy and half hearted!

The bit of singing that Mariah does on the song is ok, she doesn't sound as bad as some are saying, but it's hardly her best vocal performance, I know. I just hope that whenever her next album comes out it focuses more on her and not how many guest rappers she can fit onto one album! I just want to here Mariah as I still love her voice, even though it's not as incredible as it was back in the 90's. She still has a beautiful voice.

Always loved Mariah & have ALL her albums but this is a very poor lead single! She literally only sings the chorus which sounds nice enough but that's about it! Why she has opted to include so much rapping is anyone's guess but to have picked such generic rappers is really a missed opportunity! Really wanted to love this track but not feeling it at all, just hope the album isn't more of the same!

I've just heard Mariah Carey's much awaited new single and I must say I'm not impressed at all.... it's a weak song that doesn't really go anywhere plus there is too much of the featured artists than the main singer herself.

Hopefully this is not the best she has to offer from the album, even though weirdly they picked it as the lead song to represent the album. Personally for me she hasn't been on her 'A game' since The Emancipation of Mimi a few years ago.

In my opinion I wish she would ditch the rappers, this song should nearly be titled Featuring Mariah Carey, the rappers feature way too much. Like some posts before mine, I really wish she would stop with all the rent-a-rapper songs, urban really does not show Mariah at her best, at least with the last few albums. Someone said earlier she has always been urban, actually, I beg to differ, her albums from her debut up until Daydream are definitely not urban. I know alot of people keep saying that The Emancipation of Mimi was successful, and you're right, it was, but it is the ONLY album of hers that has been successful in the last 13 years, well here in the UK anyway.

E=MC2, Memoirs and Christmas II, were all let downs IMO, the urban hip hop rapper sound does not stand well against alot of her classic songs and ballads. It's not that Mariah is not an urban artist, it's just her classic songs were brilliant and stand the test of time compared to the urban rap stuff she's released. When you watch Idol or XFactor, it is songs like Hero, Vision of Love, I Still Believe, Without You, that people sing, not Why You So Obsessed With Me or It's Like That.

Mariah is fantastic, I mean how many singers can hit the whistle register. I would love to see a great ballad again, the closest she ever got back to this I feel was with Through The Rain.

The only real hit, if we are completely honest with ourselves, that she has had in the last ten years, is We Belong Together. I would love to see her go back to the sound of Fantasy, Always Be My Baby, Heartbreaker or Honey. Brilliant songs. Her previous stuff in the last ten years is forgettable - I only know them because I'm a fan. If she's going to include rappers she should pay attention to the style of Heartbreaker feat Da Brat and Missy Elliot (IMO one of her best ever tracks) or Honey.

When listening to her recent albums I find it hard to believe that it's the same woman who brought us All I Want For Christmas.

Please remember guys, this is only my opinion, it's not a true reflection on Mariah as an artist, she's awesome, let's remember she is the biggest selling female artist of the 90s who has paved the way for many acts to follow. I love Mariah Carey but in all honestly, would love her to release an album that I could sing along to the majority of the songs. This lady, with such a beautiful, powerful voice, does not need the assistance of any rapper, no matter how cool or 'down with it' they seem.

I have to some what disagree, while I'm not loving her latest offering, the tag line 'rent-a-rapper' simply can not be applied to Mariah. She invented it! For mainstream artists to showcase a rapper in the way we see nowadays was unheard of until Mariah started doing it.
I personally like a great deal of her urban stuff & loved E=MC2 as well as Memoirs! It goes without saying that her music is more greatly influenced by urban now than her first 3 albums but even Music Box had deep R&B roots through the samples it used & Emotions has a very retro R&B feel to it!
I think it's more a case of her music charting the evolution of R&B rather than her going out of her way to make something super urban, that's just where R&B is at the moment.

That said, I still don't like the new single!

Yeah actually, ive never thought of it like that before.

Like I said though my post was only my opinion Make It Happen has rnb roots but I wouldn't call it urban.

In regards to her new single, I love the chorus that she sings, just wish she'd have sung the whole thing

The peak and most genius combination of "Urban" and "Mariah Carey" was probably her song "Breakdown" and pretty much that entire Butterfly album. THAT is what I define as "urban" music. This is song is just a run-of-the-mill pop song. I love all her R&B stuff right from her debut, but this is what today's definitino of R&B is.

Mariah, please release a power ballad like "My All" again. That song was great.
Cheers.

Read somewhere last night just before I went to sleep, that Mariah wrote triumphant earlier this year when Nick was in hospital with his kidney problems.

Some good news?

Three versions of Mariah Carey’s new single “Triumphant” have been serviced to Australian radio:

1. Mariah Carey Feat. Rick Ross & Meek Mill —Triumphant (Get ‘Em) –Edited 4:10
2. Mariah Carey Feat. Rick Ross & Meek Mill —Triumphant (Get ‘Em) – Vintage Throwback Remix 3:54
3. Mariah Carey Feat. Rick Ross & Meek Mill —Triumphant (Get ‘Em) – Explicit 04:10

The ‘Vintage Throwback Remix’ of “Triumphant” is described as “commercial, with new Mariah vocals & no rappers” & is compared to Usher’s recent work. r
