Anne Hathaway - Catwoman

When Anne was cast in the role, many people didn't seem happy with the casting.

After watching TDKR how do people feel now?

Personally I think she was very good and played it well.

I thought she was a fantastic Catwoman (even though she's never actually referred to by that name in the film), but then I was never one of those who thought she'd be rubbish.

I remember when she was announced and the internet was all a flutter with "they shouldn't do Catwoman. She'll never be as good as Michelle Pfeiffer." It was like how everyone had forgotten the "Heath Ledger will never be as good as Jack Nicholson," rhetoric from before TDK came out.

After that, I had faith in Nolan's casting. Plus, Anne Hathaway in a skin tight leather cat suit was always going to appeal to me

Yeah, same with Heath Ledger and the furore that accompanied his casting, people are just thinking of past incarnations of the characters. Nolan wouldn't be making these films if he wasn't able to do a new take on all of that.

She was good, she didn't blow me away with her performance or anything like that but she played the part well. I did like that she wasn't specifically referred to as "Catwoman" (she was referred to as the "Cat" in the newspaper articles though)

For me Gordon-Levitt stole the show for me, and I don't know why his performance was understated but I still think he was the most memorable character of the film.

she is very good as Catwoman. To be honest I don't think her role was as big as the hype has made out though. The movie could have done with a bit more of her.

I'd say she was now my 3rd favourite Catwoman

2nd place is Eartha Kitt

1st place is the divine Julie Newmar

Totally agree with all comments so far!
Ms Hathaway is purr-fect. (hah!).

I always thought Michelle Pfeiffer would be the best portrayal of Catwoman on the big screen, but Anne embodies all the strengths and weaknesses of Selina Kyle as a believable character, and very much reflects the current and classic versions of her in the comics.

My favourite bits;
- The way she instantly turns from shy waitress into super-sexy burglar when she is introduced.
- The way the goggles make up the cat's ears.
- The wiggle in the cat-suit when she escorts Bats to the tunnels.

and most of all ...
Spoiler

Stunning!
I just wish she hadn't cut her tresses for Les Miserables ...

Chris Nolan has been asked repeatedly if he would be up for doing a Catwoman/Selina Kyle prequel but has remained tight lipped.

Hope it happens.

also agree!!!!.. she was fantastic!!

also her fight scenes were pretty good, she actually looked like she knew how to fight lol

i've seen many films with females fighting and it never looked good... in the dark knight rises it was spot on!

She was great, but I wasn't worried. Anne Hathaway is an amazing actress so I was confident she could do it.

Everyone in the film was amazing to be honest. What a great cast.

Loved her, thought she played the character well, and for me was better than Heath was as joker. Whilst heath was a brilliant joker, I think you needed to know who the joker was to appreciate Heath but I thought Selina Kyle worked better and would have worked without any prior catwoman knowledge.

She was perfect imo

She was superb as catwoman. Sorry Michelle Pfeiffer and all those from that overly camp tv series, you have been beaten.

She was great.

Loved that way they mader a suitable Nolan version - that her goggles made the ears and she was never called "Catwoman".

Also loved her tush on the Batpod.

I'm still having palpitations of her entire portrayal of the character! Phwoar, she sure did pull off the sultry, sneaky anti-hero.

Where did she get all the high tech gear and state of the art costume?

She's a high-class thief who was able to crack an uncrackable safe. I think its fair to assume she stole lots of stuff, made some good money and then bought it.

It's not like her costume was any more state-of-the-art than most leather catsuits. It's not like she was wearing the sort of military-grade body armour that Batman was clad in.

Best Catwoman in my opinion. I was always a supporter from the beginning, ever since I saw what Heath Ledger did with Joker, I really thought with Nolan as support she could pull this one off. Luckily she did and was definitely my fave in this film

Anne stole the show for me, she was absolutely fantastic and the best part of the film in my opinion.

I can only hope we get that Catwomen movie.

I think both of you are using palpitations wrong, big words in the wrong context don't make you sound smart, they just suggest your vocabulary is larger than your understanding of the meanings of words. Flashbacks are not the same as heart attacks.

Personally, I'd rather come on here to contribute to a discussion than to be pointlessly patronizing and rude to people.

I'm actually shocked; normally when I've seen people be pathetically picky over small grammar mistakes (in this case the use of the word 'of') on here it's at least been as a last-resort attack over somebody they have disagreed with in a debate, but your rudeness was completely out-of-the-blue.

I think they're both using palpitations right and you've totally misunderstood the point of their posts. ie. Anne sent their hearts into a bit of a tizzy.

Perhaps you ought to be careful when trying to sound superior to others. If you get it wrong, you end up looking the opposite.
