Christine Bleakley ITV deal

Wasn't she reported to have signed a multi-million pound 3 year deal with ITV? Does this mean she's still getting paid big bucks from ITV even though now she's only working for them on Dancing On Ice, which is one night a week for 3 months max.?

I believe she also hosts random 'specials' events, and she's due to host a new quiz I believe.

Let's hope the quiz does'nt require her to smile a lot. For someone who seems to have everything going for her, sadly she always comes across as being miserable.

It does, thats the whole point of a contract. ITV could get rid if they wanted but it would cost them. I am sure they rue the day when they tempted her and Giles across from the BBC. But in a way it serves ITV right , they plow ahead, axe shows people like, feed us a pile of old dross because its cheap, and then spend a lot of money on someone they think we will like without actually finding out if thats the case.

I would imagine she's hating it as much as ITV.

One minute "the darling of British broadcasting" next, the powers that be are scratching about finding things for her to do.

Slight echoes of Simon Dee, obviously she won't end up on her uppers, she's earned to much for that. But she thought she was invaluable, the Beeb thought otherwise, and here we are.

They'll regret the day they signed her until the end of time.

I couldn't understand for the life of me why they wanted her, when the fact that the woman was arrogant enough to try to make the two biggest broadcasters fight over her said such a lot about her character - and none of it good.

I've thought her to be an unbearable media "personality" ever since she did that water ski thing and was then everywhere...I couldn't help but feel it was a cause of just desserts when she flopped in such an embarrassing way on Daybreak! ITV will be counting the days until they are able to get rid of her, I bet.

In a year's time will she back presenting regional news, if the BBC will take her back?

She worked on the BBC well enough, but ITV has a different vibe. Very woman dominated vibe.

She really is far too glam and "Myleene Klass" to get on in ITV-Land as it is at the moment.

Not a mum, not a average looking single gal. She's a WAG isn't she?

Was never going to work.

I don't get why people think she is so beautiful. She's like a really skinny Melanie Sykes and her big mouth scares me a bit.

She was just doing what anyone would have done and going to the employer who'd pay her the most.

If you wouldn't have done that, you're either very foolish, very smart or a liar.

What she didn't realise though is though it was the format that made her and not herself.

i find Christine to be a nice lady who gets a really unwarranted unfair slating from people who have never met her. least she works, unlike other wags and at least she doesn't use her fiancee to prop her up.

victoria beckham would be just another spice girl with not a lot going for her if it wasn't for david.

More than slight echoes of Selina Scott, remember her?
One minute she was the glam newsreading 'star', then she gets a big bucks contract for the original breakfast TV show, the next minute she an overpaid presenter of a fashion show as noone can find her anything else. Then...she's making socks!

Glam TV presenters go in and out of fashion like throwaway popstars.

She's a pretty face that appears to be a more or less personality bereft cypher aside from her accent which makes her slightly unique. Aside from tanning, doing TV spots and shagging a footballer, I have no clue who she is or what she does aside from those activities.

Anthea Turner is a Stepford wife from Hell but at least it's something aside from her being a TV presenter.

John Leslie was a sex pest perv who enjoye fishing and 3somes.

Richard Bacon likes to think and act like a lad and has enjoyed some of Peru's finest export in his time but will always back down from a fight.

Eamonn Holmes buys 2 crates of beer a week from his local offie and Chris Tarrant is an easily irritated diner who cheats on his wife.

All I know about Ms Bleakley is she has Welsh clone even more bereft of personality. I know about her career, previous relationships and some charity work. However I have no clue about her as an actual personality on TV. It's hard to care for or like someone when they have no apparent defining or identifiable qualities aside from being Irish, always smiling and a little dim.

I must agree with some posts. But I still feel a bit sorry for the poor girl! She was picked by ITV - with a lucrative offer! Wouldn't YOU go for it? It's all gone t*ts up for her - and she must feel humiliated by it all. OK - she's got Frank to fall back on....but she's willing to stick it, with a stiff upper lip and carry on !

Well seeing as how you don't have an opinion to contribute, only backhanded insults to sling at strangers to make yourself feel better somehow, I doubt I am lacking by not having you in my life. One less presumptious, apparently pious in their own mind, seemingly psychic and judgemental type to deal with. I'd much rather discuss things with people that can share views objectively rather than ignorantly cast aspersions on others for their views as if they embody the totality of their character. My choice of words and views are not the sum total of me but apparently they are to you and are enough to deign me unworthy of your company. Since you are so quick to judge so much off of so little, I think if you were involved in my life, I'd find you very annoying anyway so it works out for both of us since you might assume me a racist for not using brown sauce or a murderer for using tomato ketchup.

Heaven forbid so called TV personalities exhibit some sense of self and express something other than what is provide via auto cue. Line up the bland facsimiles as long as they can smile at a picture of a baby goat and pout when a charity worker comes on to discuss third world debt.
