Best smart phone for <£200?

Hey guys,

Some research has told me that the best-value-for-money phones right now are the -

Huawei Ascend G300 £100
Sony Xperia U ~£160
Sony Xperia Arc S ~£200

Just posting to get some of your thoughts on the best smart phone for £200 as the limit of my budget - obviously the less of that amount used the better.

I'd probably use it for around 12 - 18 months before switching again. Those 2 year contracts are way too long in my opinion :/

And currently using a Nokia X6

Thanks in advance

I'm after the exact same thing, if you're okay with second hand, the HTC Sensation XE is the best i've found.

Sony Xperia U

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S

Ray

Samsung Ace (apparently the first gen is better than the second, not latest android though, all the Sony's are)

Sony Xperia U,

It has the similar specs to an Iphone 4 without the price tag, plus it plays HD contents with a breeze on its dual core processor.

I got the Desire S had it fot 10 months now and although a good phone. It dont seem to work to well in very weak signal areas. As I have been with people thats had 1 or 2 bars for signal and my Desire S was lucky to even get a signal.

On o2 the sony xperia u is £13.50. you get 50mins, 250 texts, 100mb data. It does say under free extras unlimited texts free of charge. Is that a good deal?

I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 from the O2 website for £199.99 on pay as you go only last week if thats what you are after?

Other websites were more expensive at the time.

I think it can be had from about £15 a month on contract as well mate.

So far I'm very impressed with the handset and it feels reasonably quick going through all the apps etc.

It's running Android Gingerbread at the moment but as coachtrip_fan99 says, its supposed to be getting an update to the latest operating system Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) in the future.

Ive seen the Xperia U for 10.00 a month and you get 5000 texts, 250mins and 500mb of data but texting is suppose to be really bad on it and like my brother said to me. 500mb won`t last 2 mins. so might give it a miss. Can`t afford any more than 13 a month and to get a decent contract for a smartphone you have to pay a bit more.

Thank you for the responses guys.

From what I've read, it's mainly between the G300 and the U.

Is the extra £60 worth it for the Xperia U? The screen is smaller and browsing the web on my phone will be a common use for it.

Any links to the £135 Desire S?

Orange seem to have terrible reputation for crippling phones with branding though

From what I've heard the branding on the phone hasn't crippled the 1.6ghz processor at all.

Also worth noting that the phone will be getting an update to Ice Cream Sandwich (android 4.0) later on in the year.

Huawei Ascend G300 is the best choice.

1Ghz Processor
4" Screen

And £100 - Excellent Value. Also, getting ICS.

Avoid the Desire C TBH, I am a big HTC fan but they have really taken the piss with the desire branding. The C has a worse spec then the wildfire.

Had a HTC one V for a few days and it was un usable outside -- far to low ringer or in call volume .

Orange san diego = dull screen

Just got a Huawei G300 its fantastic , needed a firmware upgrade to get the best out of it but side by side to HTC one s the screen is brighter and sharper . Not just the best £100 phne its one of the best android phones . My pal with a iphone is getting one after seeing mine for 10 mins its that good .
