Buyapowa have an iPad 2 (16GB) for sale for £289.
Is this a good deal, and is it worth getting or should I wait until I can afford an iPad 3? Are there many differences between the two?

The iPad 3 has better graphics, a better screen, more RAM, better camera...

Whether you need that or not depends on your budget and what your uses would be.

It'll only drop to that £289 price if they get enough co buyers of course, so you'd need to keep your eye on it.

iPad 2 is a perfectly good device, if you can top up the extra £100 for the entry level iPad 3 I would. The screen is so gorgeous....

Side by side there really is not much between the iPad 2 and 3. I extensively used both before deciding on my iPad 2, I just didn't think the extra money was worth it. Pictures looks stunning on both screens, games play equally well on both machines and the browsing experience is also as good on each machine.

Difficult to say at the moment. There are very few apps optimised for iPad3 at the moment. The main area you are going to see a different is reading magazines and PDF.

Thanks everyone. My main use would be browsing the web, and also playing a few games. I suppose my biggest problem would have been having one but knowing there was a much better one out there.

The only thing I would say is that you might want to consider future proofing your purchase. Whilst you are thinking about the things you know you will use it for, experience tells me that you find yourself using a tablet for so much more. Mine has become another tv set so the extra picture quality of the new iPad is great.

Bit the bullet and bought one.
