Blake's 7 Reboot Being Shopped To US Channels
The website Deadline has the full story. Feature film director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) is apparently committed to direct if an American channel can be found to back the project.

Surprised me that this and Sapphire and Steel haven't made it into the reboot machine. Seems they both have the potential for BSG style re-telling.

Haha funnily enough, we were just discussing a potential Blake's 7 reboot on another thread. Though, I'm surprised the Americans have jumped in to do the reboot. The reboot could be great if done in a gritty modern context with character-driven stories ala BSG. Maybe they should look into hiring some BSG writers in order to do that. But anyway, let's see how the project develops I suppose. Too early to really have any kind of an opinion on the whole thing.

If it's a reboot, the timelines could be changed giving you a crew consisting of Jenna, Cally, Dayna and Soolin with Servalan as the main adversary. So why the need to change any character's gender?

I can only imagine how they're approaching anyone with this;
"So, what's Blake's 7 about?" "Well, it's about this convicted paedophile, who steals a ship and takes command of a bunch of terrorists....."

Vila still does that scenery chewing pretty well when in East Enders as the vicar of wobbly
![]() But this is potentially good news. Just hope they pay some homage to the original so that it is not an all American cast and we get a token Brit - even just a cameo from the original cast. Maybe Sky might reconsider and co fund if a US network sniffs at this. Otherwise Watch might. |

Wonder who would play Servalan? I don't know anyone that could be so cold and ruthless and at the same time make it look pretty sexy.

I think Jane Badler, who played Diana in V would be a good choice as Servelan.

Dream cast:
Avon - Michael Rosembaum. Vila - Scott Grimes Jenna - Gina Torres Cally - Tamsin Grieg Gan - Abraham Benrubi Blake, I'm not sure about. You need someone with the necessary gravitas and believable purity of the soul, and I think it would be lazy just to say Nathan Fillion

The whole reason that the original worked is that it had some bloody fine actors in it. Some Shakespearian regulars.
It's don't going to work with some heart-throb glamour male and female actors who can't act! It's what has killed Dr Who and now I don't want the same happening with this. We need actors who can deliver some bollocks and drama, not another Dr Who lite. |

Agreed, though you might find a couple of my suggestions equally lazy ...
Blake - Liam Cunningham Avon - Daniel Mays Villa - Andrew-Lee Potts Jenna - Alex Kingston Cally - Zoe Tapper Gan - Cliff Parisi Zen/Orac/Slave - Nicholas Briggs Tarrant - Colin Morgan Dayna - Freema Agyeman Servalan - Morena Baccarin Travis - Callum Blue |
