Shows that reference other shows

Alibi repeated the Castle episode Vampire Weekend this week so Browncoats enjoy this

There is also a Buffy reference in the next scene when he's still in his costume.

Any others without them all being The Simpsons?

I remember Xena referencing Buffus the Bacci Slayer or something like that.

That was after Willow regretted that Buffy hadn't gone as Xena to a halloween ball. Also Angel had Wesley mentioning some random xenophobia and Gun saying "why dis Xena, she's kinda fly"

Xena is also referenced in many other shows, such as Smalville, Buffy, CSI, CSI:NY, CSI:Miami, Charmed, Roseanne, The Simpsons, X-Files, South Park, Will & Grace, Bones, NCIS, Dark Angel, House... the list goes on and on. It would probably be shorter to list the shows where Xena doesn't get a mention somewhere in the show's run.

Regards

Mark

The show NCIS includes a character Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard who is played by the 78 year old David McCallum.

In one episode the case of the week referenced back to the early life of that character and at the end of the episode one of the others asked "What did Ducky look like when he was younger?".

After a short think the reply was "Illya Kuryakin" which was the name of the Russian spy played by McCallum in the 1960s television show The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Also Buffy has been referenced in True Blood a couple of times when people have used it to refer to others, implying that Buffy exists as a television show in the True Blood universe. I am also informed by my wife, who has read hundreds of vampire lit books, that Buffy is referenced in many of those in the same way (True Blood vampires wonder what the hell the bumpy forehead thing is all about). Anne Rice books are also mentioned in many other vampire book lines as books that exist.

Oh and there was that A-Team episode when they were on a film set and a Cylon walked past Face and he gave it an odd look

Not really Sci-Fi, but Community had an episode parodying Law & Order where they used the 'bong' sound effect, and got a real life actor from Law & Order for a brief cameo appearance as a technician.

Fringe referenced Star Trek in season 1's 'The Road Not Taken' - the character thought he was Spock.

The next episode was 'There's More Than One of Everything' where Leonard Nimoy made his first appearance as William Bell.

Stargate has loads, especially to MacGyver -

Sam Carter describes how "It took fifteen years and three supercomputers to MacGyver a way to power the gate."

My favourite was a reference to the Stargate film.
Can't remember the ep but a reporter was going to out the Stargate program. O'Neill asks him to make sure he spells his name correctly in his expose. "It's "O'Neill," with two L's. There's another Colonel O'Neil with only one L, and he has no sense of humor at all."
The film version of Jack had his surname spelt with one L in the series it is spelt with two.

In one of the later series they reference Farscape.

Xander (Buffy) made references to Babylon 5 and Locutus of Borg (although annoyingly he says Locutus of the Borg).

Babylon 5 referred indirectly to Star Trek when Ivanova said she didnt want the sation to turn into a Deep Space Franchise.

Farscape's Revenging Angel also has a Star Trek Reference by having an Enterprise fly by. The entire episode of course qas a homage to the Wile E Coyote and Roadrunner Looney Tunes cartoons.

Crichton also refers to Buffy in a season 2 episode of Farscape.

Trek is also mentioned in Lost. Specifically, in season 1 Boone tells Locke that the red shirts always ended up dying on the the original series. In season 5, leading up to her death Juliet wore a red top.

Fringe also referenced Lost in its first season. Olivia was looking at a plane ticket from Oceanic Air

Doctor Who has referenced Star Trek (a couple of times) and Eastenders (plus Big Brother and a couple of other reality TV shows).

Both Star Trek and Eastenders have referenced Doctor Who
Eureka has referenced Doctor Who.

In B5 Vir was threatened with being "sent elsewhere" by Londo - but in an accent so it sounded like "St Elsewhere" which Stephen Furst appeared in.

There was also a scene following the split from Earth in which various police officers were queuing up and giving their names - one of the officers was a "Frank Furrillo" who was the main character in Hill Street Blues.

I think the show Oz might have referenced The Sopranos.

Dr. Spencer Reid in Criminal Minds has mentioned Dr Who on more than one occasion (even dressing up as him once) and always the other characters look at each other and roll their eyes and/or snigger.

There have been plenty of references to Doctor Who in Leverage

Doctor Who also got several mentions on Australian sitcom Lowdown, one of the characters was a major fan of the show had always carried his "lucky Tardis" with him.

Stargate referenced star trek loads of times, it even recreated farscape for one scene, all in full farscape costume.

Spin city referenced Back to the future a few times, most notably when Micheal j fox and Christopher lloyd were in scenes together.

Red dwarf referenced coronation street.

a couple of fawlty towers characters were in only fools and horses.

Chuck has also had loads.

Chucks dad is Scott Bakula and both have said 'Oh Boy' multiple times, Battlestar Galactica has been referenced with Sarah wearing a 'Frak Me' t-shirt & characters refering to couple of new characters as 'skinjobs', Firefly too with Adam Baldwins character said to Summer Glau's guest character 'I don't know what crew you ran with in the past'.

They have also referenced The Matrix, Back to the Future, Game of Thrones and many others.

I really miss that show

The A-Team film had a good one. When Murdoch is showing a film in the mental hospital early on, one of the actors listed in the credits is Reginald Barclay - the character that original Murdoch actor Dwight Shultz played on Star Trek: The Next Generation!

And speaking of BSG, that has referenced other things itself.

BSG season 4's "Razor" referenced The A Team (Starbuck said she loved it when a plan comes together), and had an Aliens reference via having a character called Hudson being told to knock it off...

There was also a ST:TNG reference later in season 4, with a weapon locker some characters secretly met in having the designation "1701D".

There's a running joke in Psych that The Mentalist (a show about a fake psychic) is a rip-off of Psych (a show about a fake psychic

There was an episode in Season 5 of Psych that was an homage to Twin Peaks even down to several of the characters being played by actors from TP

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual_Spires

In Season 2 there was an episode that was a complete micky take of American Idol

Verence mentioning Twin peaks has reminded me that, in Fringe, Walter had a pair of red/green glasses that he claimed were invented by a "Dr Jackobi in Washington state" - again a Twin Peaks reference.
