i didn't expect to like either him or fran, but both have gone up in my opinion.paul more than fran.
he seems like a really nice chap who has good manners etc...this show will change many people's opinions of him i think.

I agree with everything that tj_director has said. I think the only reason he went to the media and wrote his book is because he felt so let down by the establishment/family that he had devoted his life to. The only reason his trial failed was because they realised a lot of things would have come out if he had gone into the witness box - hence the 11th hour memory jog of Her Maj.

Nothing to do with any of this Royal stuff, but I have always considered Paul Burrell a bit sleazy. Am happy to admit maybe I have been wrong about him as he does to seem to have a gentle side to him at times. Also just because he is a bloke, why can't he act wimpy in the trials. ( although evil person that I am when watching these type shows I do want to see the poor man do more trials, as I find him entertaining and funny to watch, so sorry Paul, I might be voting for you to do the trials ).

I don't know about smarmy either, there are a few in there who are smarmy, but I wouldn't have put Paul amongst them.

I bet he goes home with his pockets full of spiders and bracken. "Mementos", you understand. She would of wanted him to have them.

Wingnut to win.

I'm pleased people are realising he's not the demon he's been made out to be.

i like paul too.

even found myself thinking wot a nice body he has!!!!!!!

he seems completely mystified by all the drama from the girls and rightly so.

he's one of the few 'grown ups' in there.

But did Diana ever say she trusted James Hewitt or Charles or say they were her rock? She loved Charles, he was her husband, but in time I think she learnt not to trust him, as for James, obviouly she thought a lot of him too, but did she trust him??

Sorry Snoopdog, but I don't quite know what your post is getting at Maybe I am just being thick or you maybe you could explain to me in a bit more detail Thanks

Sorry folks - off topic I know - but I don’t think Di had much luck with men in her life generally, and probably wasn't a great judge of reliability or character. Hence back to the original point, the fact that she trusted PB isn't necessarily a great character reference IMO.

Unlike Jennie Bond last series who talked about the Queen and the Royal family at every given opportunity..... WITHOUT PROMPTING!!!!! I think Paul seems ok... compared to some in there

I agree with the above. I always regarded Diana as a person who made charity appearances(photo opportunities) rather than being a charity worker.

I cannot divorce his conduct on the show from his previous conduct. He has never given a proper explanation for being in possession of so much of someone elses property for so long. I have to regard him as sleezy.

I have to say that PB *is* a genuinely nice bloke - I live in the same village that his giftshop/florist is in and most people here will tell you that both he and Maria are lovely people.... Paul's giving his fee from doing I'm A Celeb to a local hospice. How many of the others are going to do that eh? Saying that though, I'm still voting for him to do the trials - he's hilarious!

i didn't know he was sponsoring his fee to a local hospice, wonder how many people actually know that, its a lot of money to give away for the sake of making him look better, i hope no one thinks of it like that.

If its true, me opinion of him has raised even more. )

It's on a thread here somewhere from someone who lives near him.

If it's true I am very impressed. What a lovely thing to do and proving my gut instinct about him is correct - he is a really nice bloke.

I agree, anyone can put on an act, we have seen it before on RTV shows, PB not to be trusted. He was definitely putting on an act on the high wire yesterday with Nancy. You would never have known he was frightened of heights.
