Pro Evolution Soccer 2013
Demo is available now. Actually impressed by it, this may be the first year in about 5 years they actually give FIFA a run for their money. Anybody else tried it? Demo is on xbox360 and Pc |

The pregame team tactics put me off PES 2012 big time.
Hope they get rid of it for the next one or offer an option where you can turn it off. |

I enjoyed the demo; it was good fun to play on the defaults and loaded very quickly so getting to a match was painless unlike last year's demo that required one to wait through a trailer to play! |

Got a bit sick of constantly having to skip through it before each match. |

I've played the demo a few times now, here are my honest opinions. I'm a PES fan who goes back to the glory days of PES4 and 5, this is why I keep on giving the franchise a chance of redemption every year.
Pros: > Improved passing system, not as elastic as previous versions. > The new Manual aim for passing and shooting is fresh and works quite well, though not sure if I'm keen on the directional arrows being displayed for each pass/shot. > The fun factor, which has always been present in PES, penalty box scrambles and dodgy keepers make for lively incidents in the opposition territory. Cons: > Player models are ugly as sin, why do they always have their mouths wide open? Not just that but the players look like they have been recently embalmed. > Poor sound effects, from the crowds chanting to the ref's whistle, been the same for the last few years, dissapointed they have not been updated. > Players don't make over lapping runs, even though Konami have been harping on about player intelligence for the last couple of years, it fails to happen where it matters on the pitch. > Innacurate player attributes, Alex Oxlaide Chamberlain is slower than James Milner. > Still far to easy to score, even using manual shooting, goalkeepers are pretty much useless as always. So for another year, the cons far outweigh the pros, disappointing once again. Another year of Fifa ahead.

The last point though is a concern... if this is another year of having a stupid goalkeeper that doesn't act anything like a goalkeeper then they haven't listened. However that point you make about dodgy goalkeepers make it exciting is a bit ironic, how can it be a pro and a con? |

Good point, all I can is this, when scoring a goal in PES more often than not I'm surprised at how easy it is, whenever through one on one with the keeper 9 times out of 10 you will score by just pressing shoot and not aiming anywhere specific. This is great if you want a high scoring match with not much needed in the skill department.
I haven't wanted to say this but feel now it is appropriate, PES is much more arcade like than Fifa, it's almost dumbed down if you like. Just my opinion of course, like I said in my earlier post I was once a huge PES fan so I'm not hating for the sake of it. |

Agree with the posts above, this does feel a bit of a let down.
To me it seems the menu and tactics screens have been given a slight facelift. The graphics and feel of the game feel very similar to Pro 12, in fact almost identical, with only mior tweaks in the gameplay. I actually found the keepers better in some instances especially long range shots, instead of palming it to the nearest attcker they now push it wide or over the bar. But then with one on ones a lame shot can force them into a sliding save and they spill the ball ![]() Through balls are a massive improvement though, rather than kick the ball at the defenders legs they now play the ball into the space behind for the attacker to run onto. Doesnt happen everytime but is a major improvement. Another annoying trait which seems to have continued from pro 12 is crosses, i played countless crosses across the box last night and everytime my attacker would attempt a header far to early and miss the ball regardless of when i pressed shoot. Like all pro games this will need time to get used to and the rewards will come, but i do feel it will be FIFA 13 on top again this year. Pro Evo really does have the arcade game feel, the graphics just arent as sharp as FIFA and the atmosphere is dire in comparison |

Ahhh PES, same every year, i want to love you due to the good old times but its just not happening.
Ofcourse people will come in and say they've been playing it more and its getting better and theyre now enjoying it etc etc so ill buy it on the cheap second hand after ive played FIFA to death and once again realise its a game far from what it used to be, take it back and resume FIFA. |

I agree, I have bought FIFA 10, 11 and 12 and I havnt bought a Pro Evo game in years. But people are acting like FIFA is a great game, its a buggy mess, it is every year. It is a good game but it should be a whole lot better. It doesn't improve enough each year to warrant a new release. I also saw a pros and cons for pro evo. I havnt played it enough to pro and con it but if I pro'd and con'd FIFA I would be here for a day on the cons.

I have to say I'm quite impressed by the demo. Have not bought a PES since PES 6 but after the massive let down that was Fifa 12 I might give this a go

Last years PES was a massive disappointment for me. Just couldn't get into playing it against the CPU. Multiplayer it is great but the Master League mode was a bit of a joke with all the cutscenes etc

Only year on this current gen that I didn't favour Pes over Fifa was 2008. Gave Fifa 12 ago after last playing Fifa 10 but got bored quickly and couldn't wait for Pes 2012 to come out.
I really like the demo. seems a lot different to 2012 already and it hasn't taken me too long to get used to the manual aim. The new menu graphics are a refreshing change from the last few games. Definitely feels nice to browse through now that's it a lot brighter. Player attributes look like they need tweaking a bit. Certain players need to be quicker than they are. Bring on Pes 2013! |

im a huge FIFA fan, but the in game animations (player movement, shooting, defending etc) seriously is a step ahead of FIFA 12 at least, so hoping FIFA 13 is atleast on par!
Lovin the PES13 Demo though! |

I downloaded the demo yesterday and played it last night, quite impressed, its much more of a test than FIFA and more realistic in some places as well, the thing that will still steer me towards FIFA though is the PES non-licensed teams and stadiums, it really does my head, its Wembley...not the Royal London Stadium
