Number 6 on itunes!

Her airplay is increasing well, but still a long way behind the others!

I think her song screams top 5 hit, where do you think she will peak?

I think she has a Top 10 potential. She is currently placing inside Top 10 in digital sales chart and constantly growing in airplays. The only thing I wonder is how well Want U Back does in streaming.

America generally has appalling music taste, so it's no surprise.

that's because the majority of the people who buy music are teenage girls. the rest of us get music for free. a lot do it illegally, but i just use my phone apps. i only buy music from up in coming artists who need it or artists that i really respect. rihanna, beyonce, katy perry, and the rest get absolutely no love from me.

Hope she enjoys it while it lasts... It wont be long..
Selling the odd single and actually establishing yourself in the US are two different things... Ask Jay Sean or Taio Cruz.

Based on iTunes, I think the main audience that buys music in the US (and also the UK), is the "adult contemporary" types.

Certainly people that listen to rhythmic, urbam, alternative, rock, etc. stations don't download much legally, because in the US songs sometimes get really high airplay on some of the genre specific stations, and sell hardly anything, and then a few months later they get a couple of spins on some pop radio stations and shoot up iTunes.

my bad, i meant pop music. and that is the truth. woman overall are the largest consumers of music. that is a fact. but then you look at who the top 40 is catered to, especially in recent years. more than half of the songs are about things teenagers can relate to and then you add your boy bands and fluff. teenagers in america eat that stuff up like crazy. think about the top 40 right now. do you really think middle aged men were keeping Call Me Maybe at number 1 for weeks on end?

She's down to #17 on the Hot 100 this week. Her streaming really needs to increase more.

no. it really doesnt. can the uk take her back by any chance? and can one direction follow suit? we have too much garbage in the charts already from people in our own country. she was just the guest performer of a talent show last night so her sells will go up by morning if people even still watch americas got talent.

Ahhh Yes apologies, pop music I agree....
In a weird way, I'm grateful for the likes of Bieber and One Direction... At least they are getting tween/teen girls into buying music...

And I agree.. Very few teen guys I know buy albums or singles unless they truly like an artist and feel it is acceptable to like their music...and some don't even buy music from artists they love....

But it can still be done..I think that Labels just need to be more clever in how they market their music (especially albums).
Male artists can't afford to let their music/ act become too female centred - Which alot of them do, causing them to lose any interest from male fans.

An example of this is One Direction, who said the other day they want "more male fans"... No chance there.. They wont ever be cool for a guy to like.
Someone like B2k on the other hand?

I agree. I think it's good that they've included streaming in the chart now for this reason, since it gives what young males listen to more representation in the chart. It boosted songs like Niggas in Paris, Rack City, Mercy (by Kanye West), etc. up the chart. Songs that typically would be listened to mostly by teenage boys, and which have been doing poorly on downloads.

The male groups which probably had most appeal to males are ones like G-Unit, Roll Deep, D12, Far East Movement, So Solid Crew, etc.

I think Want U Back could go top 10 next week!! Rihanna and Usher's songs should drop out next week, seeing as they're so low on iTunes atm.
