If I were a presenter I would want to work on one of the biggest events the country has ever seen rather than a tacky, reality show that most people will have forgotton about in 10 years time.

It's all rumour anyway, whether she would have been part of it if she were still at the Beeb we will never know.

At least when ITV do An Audience with Jedward, Bleakley will have some more work.

Sue Barker's the one with the missile launcher.

Alex Jones wasn't involved, so it is hard to see where Bleakley would have been, besides one of the roles like Reggie Yates had or reporting live from Hyde Park London Live site for example.

Chiles would have been involved, probably on Breakfast instead of Chris Hollins perhaps.

Think CBB may have done reasonably well tonight. Twitter is buzzing and it's a genuinely fantastic line-up. Easily one of the best they've ever had, if not THE best. Hope that translates into good ratings.

It was a really funny premiere.

Needed that after the virtually laughter free zone that was BB13.

I can see the potential in all of them except the Italian Prince. Could be a great series.

Two Dallas previews as well; before and after the show. I'm not sure if that's their original airing or not.

Those started last night. Already I can't get the theme music out of my head!

Yes, that bird who slept with whats his face, that girl who texted thingybob and that bint who was on a late night C4 documentary about slappers. After the great TV of the last couple of weeks this really is crashing back down to the usual drivel with an almighty bump.

CBB needed to have a dramatic start after the awful civilian series. Question is will the viewers once again vote out interesting characters like Julie Goodyear and Julian Clary over the vapid models and male eye candy?

If it's the latter, expect the ratings to drop.

Kudos to them for getting 5 big names in Julie, Julian, Cheryl, Coleen and Martin but I have no idea who the rest of them are. Wouldn't call it the best line up ever.

Now we just have to hope the big names stay in.

The Shirely/Ben/Ian stuff has been really gripping.

Anyway, I think the public are growing tired with soaps. Even on my beloved Corrie, the storylines are growing increasingly repetitive and unoriginal. There's simply too many episodes each week to maintain the quality needed to sustain big audiences. These declining ratings are a sign of the times.”

And it beggars belief that Kirkwood still has a career in TV, hats off to your for the 'growing tired of soaps' comment, it takes a brave person to utter that.

Surnames? Thanks , BB forum is WAY too scary!

I thought that it was a great launch show and the lineup shows a lot of promise.. It will be interesting to see the ratings. This one could be a grower if word spreads.

CBB: 2.61m (12.4%)

Not a shock to me for the reasons I outlined yesterday.

But with the lineup they have managed to secure the show can bounce back from a low key launch IMO.

I think C5 will be happy with that.

Great line up should mean that figure shouldn't drop too much.

2.61 is great is it not for C5 and Big Brother on C5. Hoping this series does well.

It was never going to get much more following on from BB and having no promotion, hopefully it'll retain 2 million of that and maybe grow slightly from word of mouth.

Does anyone have a 5 minute breakdown?
D.M.N.
16-08-2012
Flowerpot Gang: 3.4m (15.9%)
WDYTYA: 4.7m (20.1%)

Football: 4.1m inc +1

Knew the football wouldn't do too well last night, and the rating shows it. Despite a lot of things at 9pm last night, inevitably the weather dented it, with only 23.4m watching in the 9pm hour.

EastEnders: 7.44m

On one hand it is surprising given it is not on Wednesday's, but if football had a 4.1m average, that suggests the pre-show from 19:30 to 20:00 may well have had under 2m.

Crikey thought the football would do better than that with an 8pm kick-off. The actual match average would have been around 4.6m-5.0m I expect but that must be the lowest ever rating for an England match on ITV1?

Eastenders did alright for an out of slot screening, however speaking as an EE fan, it is disappointing that the murder reveal was hidden away in this slot with no direct promotion, not even a voiceover at the end of Tuesday's episode.

Flowerpot gang didn't catch on then - thought it might do a "surprise" 4.25m +.

WDYTYA did well at 9pm, it does seem past its peak ratings nowadays though.

They fork out cash for 'celebs' and get less viewers than the overnight launch of BB (2.63m -1).

The football peaked with 5.21m (23.64%) according to Jake Kanter.
