EE1 Total = 7.891m
EE2 Total = 7.605m

Not too bad a drop between episode one and episode two this time. Ending the week beating all the other soaps anyway - would EE maybe be down like them if not for the current storyline? They seem pretty low.

The week has been a moderate success, but the ratings are very stubborn.

Quote:
“21:00 - Corrie Goes To Kenya: 1.77m (8.4%), +1: 108k (0.6%)”

Its a charity thing, but could have been framed a bit better. Not a very good rating, and not a great week for ITV1.

X Factor prediction: 5 mil peak.

Add a further 5m to that....

Of course that prediction is too low, but I do think that The X Factor launch won't rate as well as in previous years tonight thanks to a talent show overkill, lack of buzz around the show and an underwhelming judging panel. I think that a 6-7million average is realistic...

You're the only person who keeps using the word crisis.

Plus you are the only one who seems to think Eastenders rates well if it beats Emmerdale, even though everyone knows that Emmerdale is always the third soap.

The worst thing that could happen to The X Factor is people not knowing its on

I think XFactor will rate badly tonight because people are now even more fed up of all its manipulation than ever before after last years series got trounced by Strictly come dancing. Also lots of Itv1 shows are rating so badly, maybe not as many people as usual have seen its promos the last couple weeks cos most people have been watching BBC1. There's less buzz for it and I think it will get fewer viewers than The Voice Uks launch.

Unless you're being sarcastic, that's pretty outlandish. I was thinking 9.7m average but the hot weather means I'll revise my prediction by about a million to 8.6m and 9.0m peak.

There's no buzz about TXF like previous years. I mean, we could even see TXF below 8m possibly. If that's the case, 7.7m average then?

Maybe Cowell is just seeing the contract out now?

I would be very surprised if Cutting Edge gets broadcast before her funeral. Also there is a related 'criminal investigation'.

Quote:
“Detectives are examining claims Moors Murderer Ian Brady may have revealed information about where 12-year-old victim Keith Bennett is buried. Police are investigating whether Brady, 74, gave details to his mental health advocate, Jackie Powell. Ms Powell was arrested in south Wales on suspicion of preventing a lawful burial and has been bailed.”

I don't think TXF will be ending anytime soon though. It's still a big ratings banker, even if it's not really must see TV anymore.

Cowell only wants to be must see TV.

Well it isn't really must see TV but it's a great ratings banker for ITV. If it's still pulling 9-10m a night, there's no reason why it should end. The days of TXF pulling 13-14m a night are slowly disappearing.

Thank goodness The Olympics really showed up how much of what is wrong with this country otherwise - things like X Factor as great examples. Can't wait for him to beat the Olympic figures

Personally I think it's been a pretty underwhelming week for EastEnders. I was expecting ratings to be in the 8.5m - 9.5m range.

As for The X Factor, I think it'll get 9m (exc. +1) tonight.

I notice Louis Walsh has been ramping up the headlines by attacking Tulisa, The Voice etc i'm surprised ITV haven't tried to use the Gary situation to try and gain viewers. Based on the weather i think we may see a low rating but it will still be the '#1 show of the day and maybe week

You're right but the weather's been really warm. Though the shares have held up decently, so that proves it's probably the weather.

I think some people take certain television programmes too seriously in the UK - TXF is in the main harmless fluff that sells adverts and newspapers. Red or Black is another that gets people's backs up. It is not the reason for downfall of society...if anything it keeps millions of undesirables off the streets for a few hours...

I have gone for 10.2m for TXF tonight and 4.5m for RoB

I think X Factor is more responsible for dumbing down than you'd think...

But no, not Red & Black. Even the morons can tell how shit that is.

Hideous for Corrie Goes to Kenya last night. If anything, EastEnders did the same as usual, it was the Corrie second episode which underperformed, so I will be interested to see if Miranda dented it.”

Corrie Goes to Kenya was also advertised quite a bit.

Indeed. A TV programme cannot be held to account for the supposed "downfall of society".

How did People Just Do Nothing, a BBC Three pilot do in the 10pm slot last night? It was promoted during the end credits of In With the Flynn's on BBC One.

It can sure help, though. The way you frame "TV programme" as if they can't affect anything is a prime example of such a dumbed down mentality.
