What impresses me isn't the 27m peak, but the fact the average was so close to the peak, and there were 20m evidently still watching at twenty to one in the morning!
I feel so proud that almost everyone who was in front of a telly last night (over 8 out of 10 of them) didn't just tune in for a bit of it, but watched the whole damned lot! |

The share is distorted by people turning off other stations as the time gets later - peak in terms of share was 89.4% (19.94m) at 00:35
(not sure why I'm slightly shocked at that, you'd have to be pretty foolish to be watching a repeat on Dave rather than an historic national event, whether you care about The Olympics or not).

Proud of Big Brother. Spanked the Channel 4 opposition and wasn't far off ITV in extremely challenging circumstances.

Stunning rating! Just wondering how well it could timeshift and what the official figure could be.

WOW! That rating is amazing! The average was higher than I thought but the peak was lower than I thought. The opening ceremony deserved it.

The official figures - assuming you mean the Barb consolidated finals - will not be released until one weeks time

Does anyone have a list of the largest UK peak audiences ever?
Off the top of my head, the only single channel peaks over 27m I can think of are the World Cup Final 1966 on BBC1 (supposedly 30m but I take that with a major pinch of salt). And the England v Argentina WC 1998 match peaked with something like 26-27m on ITV. Diana's funeral averaged 31m but across BBC1 and ITV (not sure of peak). What else? |

Amazing! For a Friday night when so many watched at pubs and clubs - couldn't have imagined better. Cynics be damned - the Olympics are huge!
The most amazing thing is the average. People just stuck with it right through. |

Ah right! Has a five minute breakdown been released yet?
Surely the official peak has got to be over 27-28 million. |
