Any figures for the GO! edition of Big Brother at 6pm. And ouch for Masterchef - their spin off series just don't work down under.

LOL. Sadly in the real world I've been working with Christmas for the last few months - probably why I'm so damn miserable!

Most of them did and just stopped watching.

For future reference:
Quote:
“For BBC2's Beijing Paralympic coverage, 56% of viewers were aged over 55, with a bias towards women. The opening ceremony peaked at 2.9 million viewers, with the closing one attracting 990,000. The average audience for the 7pm-8pm The Games Tonight programme was 1.7 million, and 20 million people watched at least five minutes. C4's coverage is on a completely different scale: the biggest ever live event in its history.”

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012...ains-reporters

I think it's fair to say C4 will beat that and after the post-Olympic lull of the last week it could well be the best decision C4 have ever made. They've also sold out of advertising slots around the Opening Ceremony.

Dallas has to do well for Channel 5 considering the ton of promotion the actors have done today. Lorraine, This Morning, The One Show etc.

1 in 50 people watch Lorraine/This Morning - The One Show will have 3m+ viewers tonight - Larry Hagman on right now.....I can see Dallas launching with 2m - depending on the opposition of course.

I'm thinking 3m+. Might scrape past 4m in the officials.

All this publicity coming a bit early is a slight negative. Hoping it makes the front cover of all leading TV magazines.

It's a million better than Holding Out For A Hero was doing in that slot in the depth of winter before the X Factor results last year. 3.5m for a quiz show in that slot seems OK, I think stuff like All Star Family Fortunes does similar business (maybe a bit better depending on the competition). The share was only slightly lower than Red or Black as well.

Wasn't someone on here whining a few days ago about the BBC promoting other channels shows and that ITV never did it? I saw it on the BBC News channel as well and was quite surprised. Seems to be getting a big push. Channel 5 do tend to make an effort with their promotion, hopefully it works out for them.

That Alan Carr rating is a bit poor, and it's something to bear in mind when people are demanding Olympians go on everything because Mo Farah was on that in the week they finished and it got bugger all, so I dunno how we're expecting Olympians in Strictly in three months' time to make a difference, or indeed that X Factor sport and music special that Sun hack made up. I doubt Jade Jones' presence did much for last week's Blue Peter.

The Angelos average was doubtless dragged down by the microscopic audience on Opening Ceremony night, but it's not been good enough in terms of ratings nor good enough in terms of creativity as it's like a million other shows. I don't know why comedy shows need bands on, it's as bad as Elaine Paige on The Two Ronnies, so what value you get from seeing Cover Drive or Rizzle Kicks just performing their singles on Angelos I don't know.

By the way, I do know that Doctor Who is a drama but it's a bit different because shows like that - and Merlin and Primeval and that - are the only dramas that would go out on a Saturday teatime, not like a proper 9pm drama.

But why would anyone choose to watch the opening ceremony on BBC News? Even if you do watch the channel all day you're surely not doing that at nine o'clock on a Friday night, nor would you think no other channel would cover it. I think we should exclude it because the idea of people actively choosing to watch it there is too weird for me to comprehend.

Also a household panel of 5,100 extrapolates to a household population of 27 million, the BARB panel actually has 12,000 individuals that extrapolate up to 60 million. Semantics, but important.”

Wow. Just stopping in to doff my cap and belatedly join Robbie's conga line for the Closing Ceremony figures. Absolutely remarkable, and a sign of just how much the Great British public got behind the Olympic Games - as far as I'm aware, Opening Ceremony ratings usually comfortably outstrip the Closing. In this case, I just think the public wanted to hang onto the Games for as long as they could. Amazing.

Maybe host nation is exception to the rule. In Australia it was a similar story back in 2000.

If only this was true. <cough>Eastenders<cough>

I can't help feeling that BBC1 only commissioned a CTM Christmas special because ITV1 have their Christmas Downton. But they couldn't possibly schedule Midwife against Downton on Christmas night. Or could they?

Interesting to see the Paralympics opening and closing do quite well there. The ABC's share goes up somewhat compared to the previous weeks.

It doesn't necessary follow that if Birds returns to TV it will be on the BBC. Possible homes for a new series: Sky1, Sky Atlantic, Gold (the favourites IMHO), Channel 5(?) or how about ITV1 - something for the comedy slot they're supposed to be planning for Thursdays at 8.30.

BBC2's Red Dwarf returned on Dave and ITV's Auf Wiedersehen, Pet was revived on BBC1.

edit: just saw a trailer on Challenge** for the new series of Mount Pleasant now on Sky Living, the women's channel. Another possible home for the all-female-cast Birds.

**it's Bullseye on at the moment. The perfect escape from deeply depressing soap operas and deeply depressing dramas about child exploitation or psychotic stalkers.

Thanks. The daily shows struggled towards the end of the week but the Sunday night live show held up quite well and tonights live nomination show was viewed as the best show of the series by most folk over on Behind Big Brother.

All Star Family Fortunes would probably be closer to the 4.5m mark at least - it usually does rather well.

And thanks for those Sydney 2000 ratings Dancc - so based on that C4 might be looking at around a third of the Olympic figure for the ceremonies, so around 8m or so - which sounds about right actually.

Well, so it should have, giving that The Cube was a month old repeat.

A month old repeat at 8pm on a Sunday night. Ludicrous. But ITV were punished because their 9pm drama, The Last Weekend, with The Cube lead-in, got tanked by Silent Witness.

Disappointed by those ratings for The Chase. It was brilliant last night and deserved to do much better than that.
