I thought XFactor normally says that the winner has a chance of Christmas Number One? Is the 9th of December the week eligble for Christmas Number One or is it the following week?
Well last year the final was on the 11th and therefore the winner's song wasn't released in the Christmas number 1 week. I think they seem to have quietly dropped that in favour of the final being when it suits ITV best.

They're probably getting the weak one(s) out of the way first. Really bad for 13 Steps Down.

Think Mrs Biggs and Mr Selfridge have hit written all over them, however. I can't call if Monroe will do well. Could see Selfridge pulling 7-8 million.
I think you're probably right about them getting 13 Steps Down out of the way. The Last Weekend deserved better though.

I wasn't sure about Mrs Biggs at first but the snippets so far look fantastic so I think it could do well. They'll no doubt be hoping from big numbers from Selfridge and it does sound like a hit. I think Bletchley Circle will do rather well too (and it sounds like something that could return). There's always Downton too.

Monroe did alright last year. I'm glad they gave it another shot as I enjoyed it but they'll probably be looking for an improvement this time. I just hope people don't think it's too 'up itself' (I didn't think it was but a few seemed to last time). Not too sure about Homefront. I doubt it'll completely bomb but they'll want it to do better than Prisoners' Wives did earlier in the year, but I'm not certain if it will.

Celebrity Big Brother soars to 2.17m last night.

I always kept the faith that this series would rate well. How could it not?

Great rating. For the first time up on the equivalent show last series, which had 2.15m.

Slight surprise that more didn't tune in for that one. And CBB was presumably the clear slot winner on commercial TV in its core adults 16-34 demographic.

After Winnie Johnson died I din't fancy watching the documentary as it would have been too depressing.

EastEnders still floundering I see...

The Last Weekend was good. It seems to me that it's a drama ITV are proud of but is merely a placeholder until Downton returns.

I think Bletchley Circle, Mrs Biggs and Mr Selfridge will do well. Mrs Biggs got rave reviews from the critics at the screening. Award potential that one. If Bletchley Circle doesn't return for more adventures after its debut I'll be stunned. Mr Selfridge is by who I consider to be the greatest dramatist in the country at the moment, Andrew Davies. It'll get a prime slot and I can't see it failing.

As for BBC1 dramas I think The Paradise and Ripper Street will do the business for them.

EE isn't that bad quite frankly:

CS1 - 7.37m (36.4%) (+1 201k)
CS2 - 7.81m (34.1%) (+1 214k)

Em - 5.89m (32.4%) (+1 185k)

EE - 7.06m (31.9%) (Three 778k)

No 'big week' effect anyway; but its not had a negative effect.
It's a wind up, best ignored.

A somewhat imaginative use of the word soar there, dribbles up to 2.17m is better.
