And I suspect for programmes with fanatical followers the +1 ratings are distorted to make them meaningless, they are just to please advertisers.

What is VOSDAL counted as? "Live" or "Not Live"?

The last time BARB released figures, wasn't it just for the top ten channels, so the highest timeshift channels like Sky Atlantic and BBC HD weren't included?”

Has been over 10% for all channels (cumulatively) for most of 2012, although clearly less over the last month or so with the Euros, Olympics etc.
ITV has been around 8.5% non live between Jan-May, June & July its just over 7%.

Vosdal is not live.

Both the above are overall averages for the whole population across all platforms and channels.

Even allowing for the fact that many people don't have the necessary equipment it still shows that the vast majority of people want to just flick on the TV and watch something that is on there and then the vast majority of the time.

People want convenience and simplicity. If there's something they really care about that they can't watch live then sure, the ability to catch-up etc is incredibly valuable. But for the majority of people it's the occasional exception from normal live viewing.”

AFAIAC, the "chapters" feature on the web version of the catchup players combines convenience and simplicity. Missed a particular rowing race cos you were watching the horse jumping (or, in the unlikely event you were busy at work!)? Simple, hover over the chapters to see which one is for the event you missed, and it starts the playback from there - brilliant!

Perhaps that explains the difference in the figures, then? If ITV were taking the "officials" minus "overnights" that would de-emphasise the amount of "not live" watching...

Now, why might they do that!!!???

Depends what you mean by inferior.

A Human Fox Freeview HDR is more than a match for a Sky Plus box.

No. The way Crozier said it clearly implied he was talking about all platforms / channels.

He said it to give (his) context to his comment that YouView had not "missed the boat" by launching much later than might have been the case.

He also gave some figures for individual channels. From MEMORY he said BBC1 and ITV1 were 4% whilst some minority channels were far higher (I think he said 21% for one Sky channel) but that the overall average was 5%.

(NB. All the above is just what Crozier said - I obviously accept trickytree's figure).

Also, I am getting bored with the coaches saying "Some days you have to accept that you are not going to do as well as you hope". The other countries seem to be performing consistently well (i.e Denmark) so that isn't an excuse anymore.

£400 million pounds have been invested in this team. More than any other team. If they don't produce results (and by that, yes I mean Gold.....that is the ultimate goal for all athletes) then future investmests will be affected.”

Ben Ainslie is currently in 2nd place overall, so that looks like a medal to me. The Rowing, Cycling and Sailing finals haven't even happened yet. Just to be a realist not a pessimist.

Olympic games comment - not ratings, so hidden for those who don't want to see.

C5 Provisionals

Mon 13 Aug
8pm: Frontline Police (New Series)
9pm: Big Brother: Live Final
10.30pm: Big Brother's Bit on the Side (Series Finale)

Tue 14 Aug
8pm: 9/11: The Woman Who Wasn't There (New)
9pm: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (Series Finale)
10pm: Person of Interest (New Series)

Fri 17 Aug
9pm: Celebrity Big Brother (New Series)
10.30pm: The Bachelor
11.30pm: Celebrity Big Brother's Bit on the Side (New Series)

The bad... Only two of the 50 most watched shows in C5's history were shows scheduled at 10pm, and neither were dramas. Person of Interest's ratings potential just got severely downgraded with this news as there's no guarantee CSI viewers will stick around. Surely a CSI cross-city double on the previous Saturday would have been a better option, allowing PoI to take 9pm.

The good... CBB launching on a Friday for the first time since it came to C5 will also limit the ratings potential for that but it might be wise as the competition on the Wednesday and Thursday such as the England friendly and the notorious ratings banker that is Peter Kay on C4 looks a fair bit tougher.

I don't think it's a bad rating but would people have known it was on at 11? I know it aired from 11:05-11:33 (if that affects it)

Nice rating for BBC2 and still managed to beat Emmerdale
I think it could rate better tonight and of course Holby will follow at 8 so BBC2 is in for a good night.

The HD showing of EastEnders is Tonight at 00:00

Corrie held up well against the Olympics too.

A shame, really is a good series.

Starts slowly, but builds to a great finale, well worth a watch.

EastEnders Live Aftermath.

31-07-2012
just found the missing episodes of the forthcoming EastEnders mega week, featuring Sharon

Monday 13th - 8pm & 9pm
Tuesday - 7:30pm
Wednesday - 7:30pm
Thursday - 7:30pm
Friday - 13th - 8pm & 9pm

Personally I think the BBC is playing a dangerous game here, if its rubbish it will kill ratings even further, where as if its good, it should see them increase.

If during that week, I start ending my posts with "Get out of my pub!", "hello princess", "you aint my mother" or "duff duff duff" please let know, so I can take a break from the show for a couple of days.
