Does anyone have a figure excluding +1 for Jimmy Carr: Being Funny, please?

The Olympics is performing exceptionally for the BBC at the moment. The soaps held up well yesterday as did Big Brother and Undercover Boss. We Love The Monkees lost a lot of viewers on it's lead in. Monkey Life struggled in comparison to Home and Away though the vintage episode recorded a good figure for 5*.

Why isn't part 3 of the ratings thread available to read?

I would have loved to see the reaction of DS members when they found out the BGT final got 19 million viewers.

Part 3 of the thread is too big, maybe it will resurface one day...

My final comment on the team GB performance to date:

The GB Women's football team has a fantastic goalkeeper! She should join the blokes team! How is women's football rating compared to men's?

Oh, it's a DVD people paid for five minutes ago.

NBC averaged 31.6m for the prime time Olympics show last night.

7m is on - though we all know how strong ITV1 is on Tuesday nights.

that is certainly a worthwhile suggestion, even more so for stuff that maybe considered a spoiler.

As for ITV tonight, I am seriously worried we may not get ratings tomorrow, the ratings computer may not be able to cope with ITV going into negative figures. I mean seriously who is watching Trash to Treasure when The Olympics and EastEnders is on? Same for Beat TV ratings

The Olympics are indeed doing really well, but I agree about ITV1's ratings tonight. For anyone who is looking for strong alternatives to the Olympics they would firstly look to the UK's second main channel. But ITV are offering nothing to entice anyone to stick with it. They could show some of their best loved drama series' or one offs in the evenings. I realise putting out new stuff is pointless, but a more considered alternative could have been created.

the problem with that is what ITV 3 will be doing this, and does most of the time.

Will be interesting to see how BBC2 faired between 1930 and 2200 this evening. The Midwifes documentary should have gained viewers who watched EE and Holby City who'd normally be watching BBC1.

C4 had a strong documentary line-up with Secrets of the Shoplifters and Lost Children - Courtney.

Eastenders very respectable on BBC2. And that Panorama rating could easily have been for a BBC1 airing

Overkill IMO. 5, 6 at absolute most would have done. I hope the quality is consistently good, but I fear there will inevitably be some filler just to make up the missed episodes during the Olympics

I can't see Friday 9pm rating well in Summer and on EE's weakest night

If last night is anything to go by then I'd guess EE at least 5 million, Holby City at least 3.5 million and then the Midwifes doc at least 2 million

without starting another debate, whilst these 7 episodes have got storyline on there side, it is a huge ask for East Enders viewers, it a huge ask for any soaps viewers.

Fair enough a big week to make the return to BBC 1 & of
Spoiler
Sharon
, but 7 episodes I fear is too many.

You just have to watch the trailer, to see the BBC want this to pay off, it was not a cheap trailer by any means.

No Filler...2 huge storylines and 6 of the episodes are all set on one day. Sharons return is episode 1 (Monday at 8)
It seems it was planned a whille back to use 3 eps missed during the Olympics for this big week.

Personally I think the BBC is playing a dangerous game here, if its rubbish it will kill ratings even further, where as if its good, it should see them increase.

If during that week, I start ending my posts with "Get out of my pub!", "hello princess", "you aint my mother" or "duff duff duff" please let know, so I can take a break from the show for a couple of days.”

Surely this isn't necessary?

I know ITV has overkilled with 7 Coros before now, but I thought BBC1 was above that.

well this is a one off event, this wont be repeated anytime soon.

However the BBC need a big week for EastEnders, they hope this will do it, but I fear this maybe too big.

The BBC needs a "EastEnders Returns to BBC 1 with 9 million viewers" type headline.

5 episodes and a returning character, is more than enough to call it a "Big Week"

Thats not going to happen though, the critics will pounce if the return f the messiah fails to increase the average first run rating by at least three million in addition to the average seven million it has been attaining . There will be an upsurge by curious viewers tuning in but it will drop back behind Corrie as per usual.

It appears there is a lot being staked on her return by the team at EE, the gamble may not pay off if they are planning to have the character
Spoiler
the daughter of Cora
, considering the characters
Spoiler
mother has already appeared in EE i believe.

The bad... Only two of the 50 most watched shows in C5's history were shows scheduled at 10pm, and neither were dramas. Person of Interest's ratings potential just got severely downgraded with this news as there's no guarantee CSI viewers will stick around. Surely a CSI cross-city double on the previous Saturday would have been a better option, allowing PoI to take 9pm.”

Person of Interest should get some viewers, they've been promoting heavily so it's not impossible for it to crack over 2m. If OUAT can crack 2m at 8pm then PoI can do it as well.

That was pure speculation by those posting over in the soaps forum - one of those stories that someone thinks up and then everyone else jumps on the bandwagon. Cora's child is/was born 5 years too early to be Sharon - the baby was born in 1964, and Sharon was 15/16 and still at school when the programme started in 1985.

Anyway, sorry for that minor soap tangent - back to the ratings...

A peak of 10.18m (40.22%) viewers on BBC1 and BBC Olympics 1 saw Michael Phelps became the most decorated Olympian ever.
