@rogermosey: Stunning viewing figures for last night's amazing athletics. 17.1m watched Mo Farah win gold, and 16.3m saw Jess Ennis's triumph. #BBC2012”

Huge ratings! And with that Andy Parish takes the gold for ratings prediction.

Wow this is turning out to be an incredible fortnight for bbc. So many more viewers watching Olympics than I thought t here would be. Maybe another 15million for tonights 100m final.

So much for the athletics being dented by the football on 3!

6.50-10.30 BBC1 average: 12.2m 52%.

Massive rating for the evening show. Very impressed as I thought people going out to watch it might drag it down along with football on BBC3.

Amazing figures. I'd go for 11.3m average tonight for Bolt and 400m final but a massive peak of around 15 or 16m for Bolt.

The football was a huge disappointment...as usual

Typical. But I felt sorry for Sturridge. I knew he'd miss. I just knew it.

Any BBC3 figures?

Will Bolt get such a huge audience or are we just getting the bigger numbers for team GB?

Bolt is a very popular public figure though so we'll probably see a lower average but another big peak tonight. Isn't Ohurougu racing in the 400m final tonight?

Astonishing! The BBC's coverage has been second to none, simply first class.

If we had a contender in the race it would probably get 20million-plus.

Mind you, Usain appears in the Virgin Media ads, so we can count him as one of ours!

But now they can't go back. They'll have to do the same for Rio with the extra channels or it would be a big step back.

Perhaps, though I think the fact we're actually hosting the games should justify the breadth and depth of coverage this time around.

If football managed to bring in 3-4m viewers last night goes to show what a huge sport in this country it is

The athletics pulled in more viewers than the BGT final, astonishing.

Anyone have the official ratings for last night?

Nicole Cooke a reigning Olympic Champion failed to get a medal.
The mens team archery are out. The womens team archery are out. Ben Ainslie getting beaten into second place by the Danes in his two races. Volleyball teams are rubbish, the beach volleyball teams are out. We now have a silver and bronze. But Gold is still looking a long way off.

The rest of the world have severely upped their game and our athletes have kept to their same familiar plans which the world have sussed out and capitalised on.

The more we go on losing, the less interest the public will show towards the games.”

Wizzywick has been a bit quiet of late, hasn't he?

You've said this before - the ratings from last night and this week ARE NOT official ratings, we will get the officials next Monday when BARB update.

Is that clear for you?

No one has the official ratings, because they are not available until 8 days after the original transmission.

As usual, the ratings you see are overnight ratings.

Absolutely fantastic peaks last night, did not expect them that high!

I think the above emotion describes it all.... wow. I don't need to state the obvious, so I won't.

BBC Three peaked with 3.5m (32.8%) yesterday, BBC Olympics 1 peaked with 1.4m (10.8%).

Source: Sam Hodges.

One of the highest ever multichannel peaks there, in terms of raw share and viewership.

By official ratings, I meant like a round-up like we get everyday.

I think he's a big enough public figure here for a 15m peak, even if the show average is lower, before the games there seemed to be a greater interest in how he'd do here than our own team, the 100m final always do well anyway doesn't it?
