Dallas has been stated as starting September and so could theoretically take on that US hit drama slot with the promo seen as a way to secure that show's audience.

They also have a behind the scenes special filmed on set by John Barrowman. So they might even launch with a Dallas evening.

We should know soon as the cast is supposed to be coming to the UK and are likely to blitz things like This Morning. So once they start announcing bookings of guests we will know it is on its way.

Is it not reportedly a bit more raunchy than the 80s version and so Sunday at 9 pm might be an option? I would think at 8 pm any day they might have to make cuts.

It is (although the original series was very on the wire for its time) and its also a bit more violent in places. Cutting isn't an option as some of the sex scenes are actually important plot points which drive storylines in subsequent episodes.

The amount of live coverage across 24 channels has been exemplary, I just think they ought be squeezing a little more into the live primetime shows.

A decent peak (and average no doubt) last night, with more Athletics the next 3 evenings, there ought be more high ratings to come.

In other news...... Channel 4 is to host its first ever live charity telethon, made by @WhizzKidEnt: http://t.co/1rypW0T9 -- Michael Rosser (@MichaelRosser)

Final of 200m tonight with Bolt and Blake in a race off. Mo Farrah is in the 5000m final, he has the chance of winning double Gold, Dobrinsky is in the 1500m final, and Tom Daly is in the diving this weekend, surely these should all rate well. Not to mention the 4* 100m hurdles in the athletics.

I think we will get high ratings for the closing ceremony of the Olympics

If BBC tighten up the primetime schedule for the next 3 evenings the ratings ought do very well. The 4 relay finals ought rate highly, Mo Farah in the 5000m, leading to a 14m+ Closing ceremony.

14m+? I would expect hopefully over 20m myself...

I was thinking 19.7m. I don't think it'll rate higher than the Opening Ceremony but it should do very well.

I am not sure what it will rate, I don't think it has the pull of the Opening, lots of live music may have some people tuning out....it may well peak at 22m, but I don't see a 20m average this time... I would like to be proved quite wrong of course.

The CC is basically a pop concert with Boris handing over a flag and Rogge making another dull monotone speech. It also has had nothing like the build up and anticipation of the OC. Plus I think these last 5 days will prove something of a disappointment for Team GB (I see no more than 2 golds if that), which may temper the exultant mood.

15m at best, probably less than that. But it might peak at 20m, possibly.

According to the BBC Press office for the week of 25-31 Aug Inspector George Gently is on Sundays for 4 Weeks and a Drama called Good Cop is on Thursdays also 4 weeks and a comedy called Citizen Khan on Monday 10.35-11.05 (can't be that good then).

Yes, I noticed this, and it also limits them, as it does BBC2, so Wilfred on Thursday at 10pm has to be followed by a filler at 10.20, whereas at 10.30 it wouldn't have mattered - indeed, they could have done a double episode which is something 'stEnders will also stop. And 10.30 was a good slot because of the inheritance and because BBC2 and ITV have both packed up.

I dunno about that, it's not long enough to have forgotten about all the gold medals they have done, and it'll be preceded by the review which'll go through all the gold medals again and will get people excited. And even if it's just a pop concert, those have certainly done well in recent months, look at the Jubilee for one. The competition is probably even worse than the opening ceremony too.

Hmm, they've always mentioned Citizen Khan too when they've been talking about the need for pre-watershed comedy on BBC1 and in all the publicity they seem to have regularly implied it would be in an 8.30 slot, so presumably they've got cold feet. Should be alright, though, it's a spin-off of the amusing Bellamy's People.

Good weather forecast for the weekend, potential effect on ratings as those summer BBQ's finally get lit up after the floods of the past week?

See that's actually really frustrating scheduling for Citizen Khan! So they have that at 10:35, a new series of In With The Flynns starting at 9:30 next friday, plus another new sitcom Me and Mrs Jones starting around the same time, but seemingly unlikely to be in a block with any of the other two shows. surely it would make much more sense for them to have all 3 leading into one and another to benefit them all?

I'm surprised to see it in a 10.35pm slot, unless it's a bluff. Will the News even go on until 10.35pm on Bank Holiday Monday?

Should be plenty of showers knocking around in the south on Sunday.

Quite a jam packed drama schedule for BBC One with Gently on Sundays, Accused on Tuesdays and Good Cop on Thursday. They've still got Hunted, Ripper Street, Shetland and The Secret of Crickley Hall to air between September to December, Hunted 8x60m but I think that'll get a weekday slot while Ripper Street will be Sundays along with Shetland. Crickley Hall I think will air around October.

Wonder where BBC One will put The Paradise? I'm guessing they'll pair it with Call the Midwife but it'll face Mr Selfridge if ITV1 plan to air in January.

Possibly, as it's not a Bank Holiday across the UK.

I reckon they are doing a Mrs Brown with it. We all thought that was going to be rubbish when they dumped it in that same slot, but it has become the standout hit new show of the past 2 years.
