I wonder if Vera will rate better tonight than The Big Sports Quiz did last night?

I presume they're going to consider the switch from the studio to Huw Edwards as the starting point of show 2 - if so, it started at 20.55.

**** me, this deserves a near 30m peak. And you know what? I think it might come true....

This is pretty spectacular. I'm blown away.

Hoping for records to be broken.

Couldn't agree more, no other country could produce such an insanely brilliant spectacle.

Will the Olympic Channel 1-3 ratings be reported, I've chosen to watch it commentary-free and I'm sure many others have as well. I hope the ratings from those they get included, they are after all simulcasts.

Expect a drop at 22:15 as that's when it is country by country.

Got my fingers crossed for great numbers. This is a real wild ride - irreverence, gravitas, spectacle. Simply brilliant.

I've almost been moved to tears by what we've seen so far. Absolutely incredible. A truly historic event for Great Britain. No amount of viewers is enough for this.

Zeebox actually had everything on 0 or 1 out of 100.

Which was rather humorous.

Reckon they'd only add tens of thousands.

Cryptic tweet just popped on my feed:

ITV1
Make you watch this space this weekend. That's all we're saying for now... #WhoseTimeIsNow
10:09 PM - 27 Jul 12

I reckon this probably peaked around 10pm, and it's a shame the parade of athletes will now be sending millions off to bed before the proper ceremonials commence - in the early hours.

40 minutes into the parade and we get to F...

I have to say I don't think the TV coverage did the Boyle spectacular justice at all. It was all over the place, and focused on the wrong bits.

Well as far as I'm concerned it's been an amazing, amazing opening ceremony. Absolutely stunning direction from Boyle. They proved all the detractors wrong. It had everything. Heart, wit, soul, romance, sheer spectacle and a bloody amazing soundtrack.

Sadly I think quite a few viewers will have switched off during this tediously long parade of nations so I expect the absolute peak will have come at around the 10pm mark as Robbie suggests.

LOL - though no justification at all for interupting the main session of the day of the biggest event in the history of the BBC.

Fantastic ceremony so far though - we kicked Beijing's arse really by changing the game rather than raising the game. Danny Boyle certainly achieved the vision of a live film he seemed to want. I'm sure we'll get various breakdowns tomorrow but of the ceremony I'd expect 9-10.30pm to rate best.

This will be the time it might drop viewers, but I think the hype of the cauldron will keep people watching, though I wonder if the Euromillions draws on BBC2 now might rate rather well with people realising they can afford to miss 10 minutes.

To be fair, it's hardly our fault or Danny Boyle's fault that this parade's taking so long. We have to do this and at least we get to do the show first. And we still have the torch lighting and Paul McCartney to come,so plenty will still be around.

Nothing but love for everyone involved.

Well there's been a lot of tweeting reminding people it's on BBC2 so it's possible

X Factor promos normally only get 2 weeks airtime, surely that raises the possibility of a August 11th launch?
