X Factor promos normally only get 2 weeks airtime, surely that raises the possibility of a August 11th launch?
They're not going to pitch it against the Olympics, surely?

This is ITV we are on about....

Team GB expected at midnight. Wonder if it could break the 18.5m record at midnight?

**** me, this deserves a near 30m peak. And you know what? I think it might come true....
I'm thinking a 21m average, 29m peak, 70-80% share peak. This could be incredible. My 16.7m average prediction with 22m peak seems a huge underprediction. I was under the impression of a 14m start at 9pm, growing to around 18m, peaking at 22m.

It seems everyone in the country is watching, the internet is on fire like I haven't known since Michael Jackson's death or the riots. Anything under 22-25m average would be a major surprise IMO.

Just astounding. Could we even see a 30m average?

The streets are so quiet. The Olympics have united the nation so brilliantly.

What sort of shares could we talking? 60% average share, 70% peak share. What would be interesting is to see whether there is/was a power surge at the end of the Ceremony tomorrow.

I honestly think this is the TV event of a generation. Absolutely everyone's watching this, even the flag parade!

And more importantly, almost everyone is really loving it. I'm sorry for my constant praise, but I'm so very proud of our country for this!

More likely at 9pm surely? Imagine the number of remotes that switched over at 9pm, possibly 10m or above.

Haha sorry Charnham, I've been busy lately so not been reading much, didn't realise this was your stance. To be fair I'm not a massive Olympics fan myself but I had to watch tonight. It's a once in a lifetime event, we'll never see anything like this in our country again in our lifetimes.

Incredible started watching it as a cynic and to make sarcy remarks, but was awe-inspiring, nothing to do with sport a celebration of british-ness and very uplifting. Wouldn't have missed it for the world.

The peaks going to be incredible, but this parade is always dull, nowt you can do about that, I'm afraid.

im very disappointed in you dan2008, I thought me and you were tight *white guy terrorist fish bump* and all that.

that maybe true, but I am not sure that is reason enough.

Like when people say "this is so bad, its good, you have to watch to see how bad it is" not me.

Not to mention the numbers watching on big screens up and down the UK and in the Olympic Park.

Yep, don't forget everyone that even if it's not reflected in the figures, we have an extra 11m to add on tomorrow from organised public viewings - and that's without pub viewing I think? :O

If we were take both those things into account, I honestly think we could end up with an estimated 35-40m peak.

I'm thinking this is why they are handing over to the BBC News Channel straight afterwards rather than airing a late film. The BBC News will act as the post-ceremony show.
The post ceremony show is Weatherview - which will completely remove any Olympic atmosphere from BBC1. Very stupid, especially as weatherview could be have been shown later during the news channel simulcast instead of one of the usual shorter half hourly weather forecasts

I beg to differ, there is nothing that united Britain more than the weather, even I agree with that.

This seems to be overrunning a lot. Could be a 2 hour parade at this rate. If BBC1 goes off air at 1am it will massacre the average. I'm thinking 16m from 8.50-1am, peak of 22m.
