Thing is though, She saw him when they were all out paying respects, I dont understand why she didnt go and speak to him.
He must feel really down, knowing she wasnt there for him. He has no one.

im also confused-
shes stood by him at the funeral, but spoilers when Joey rushes out, Lauren is meanwhile at the police station. Hows that possible?

Also- im surprised she doesnt go out after him.
Do you guys think hes going to confide in her and tell the truth?

Tbh I think we're over thinking this. Lauren assumed Joey would be mostly unaffected by Derek's death because he spent so much time hating him. Since they never had the chance to have a proper conversation she doesn't know how he's really feeling. Yes, he probably does feel like she's acting selfishly but next Thursday will probably clear everything up so they're on the same wavelength regarding how one another feels, not just about their relationship but other issues too.

True, I really hope we see her apologize for today and support him.
But generally, where do you think they go from here? Its clear he truly loves her but obviously it wont be an easy ride. I wonder what the writers will do with them.
I just have this bad feeling that Joey/Alice are going to stick around for a few months, and then leave.

I'm not really sure what they'll do with them beyond them getting back together but I'm sure Joey and Alice's mum is supposed to turn up in Walford so odds are she shacks up with someone - probably jack if Sharon leaves him for phil - so they decide to stick around so they can be with faaamily.

Lucy and Lauren have the confrontation and the police station stuff happens before the funeral, because Joey stops Lauren and she supports him. If you read the Digital Spy spoilers, it's pretty clear cut how it's gonna play out!

Do you know that for sure? I was hoping they cast their mum! It would be very interesting to see them around their mum and a different type of relationship! Hope you're right!!!

I haven't heard any confirmation that their mother comes to Walford- so it's just a rumor

We never know this relationship could last months and months and go really well, and he has no need to leave

There's a thread on the main forum on whether Joey/Lauren are the worst couple.
Im really scared that because most people dislike them- EE will decide it's time for their relationship to run course after a few months. (Does it work like this?)

I couldnt help but read that thread and came across a brilliant post. Please read:
In relation to whether they could be together in future.

Well, Lauren clearly has some problems, especially with booze, but I'd say there may be some anger issues there as well (we could have a lengthy discussion about wether or not she is justified in those, but that is not the point, se clearly has some of those). Joey has not seen the passing out drunk, raging wih anger, capable of anyhting Lauren. He has seen her drunk driving, but she was not so hammered that it he was concerned for their safety. The lad would not risk both their lives on purpose.

At some point in the future, he is going to encounter Lauren passed out, or smashing up things, throwing up in the kitchen sink mid-afternoon etc. Now, what is he going to make of that? Is he going to help her get through it, or just condemn her, like everyone else, up untill recently?

Will Joey have some of the streaks his father had? Will he also try to control his family, consisting of him, Lauren and Alice? He has already ran Alice's boyfriend out of town and hs not let an opportunity slide to try and convince her to go back 'home' which must be with their mother. So I see a little bit of Derek reflected there.

Then we have the question, if Max will continue to support this relationship. He did not oppose it, mainly to spite Derek, but did not seem 100% comfortable with it either. Max did have a good point saying that this was not what he had wanted for Lauren at all, but he did not want her to be unhappy either, but what if they have a fight? Now that he is no longer spiting Derek by letting happen what Derek was strongly against, Max can air his own true opinion, as will Tanya. I am not sure how she feels about it all, she has merely been caught in the blackmail-aftermath.
And what will others make of it once it comes out? Lucy will be livid, of course, but I can see many residents being against two cousins together.

I am not certain if they are allowed to marry, but that won't stop Lauren from getting pregnant at some point. Then we have the issue of drinking during pregnancy, potential risk factors due to the parents being related, people more engrossed then they already were (I can imagine the Squre just getting used to the pair of them, no longer staring, or making remarks, then we have Lauren with a bump, highlighting the fact that they sleep together and I get the impression many people think close relatives should not be in a relatonship in the first place, but the relationship leading to a baby is the most awful thing you could possibly do).

Lauren hates Max at times, which will be difficult for Joey to stomach, as his father was far worse and is now dead, where Max is not father of the year, but not as rotten as Derek, plus he is still around. Then there is Joey's missguided guilt over his father's death, for which he clearly blames Max and Jack.

These factors are so plausible. Im so scared that it's not going to work out.

Yer some of this stuff may happen, but we have to think of the positive things like next week and that they actually get back together! We just have to take every episode as it goes, and see what we incountor

At this point, does he love her though?
He chose to break her heart instead. It would have made sense, and it was so obvious too (cant believe EE writers didnt have him say it) for him to say other factors didnt allow him to.
Tanya knowing, Max going livid after the accident, giving Joey the impression that if he was to find out about the relationship, he'd kill him. So he was doing what was best.

Rather, they just had him say you really think i should have been a dutiful son?

Also, i think his comment on her seeing things as black and white was in relation to their relationship too. Indirectly.
She wasn't looking at the intricate details, rather just focused on why didnt you choose me.

Im hoping the drinking isnt a problem, and that she goes back to college early on. That way at least we dont have that negative aspect in the relationship

@ Starlight 54, you have to keep in mind that SOME people(always the same who criticize the young good looking and talented actors )on this forum dislike them as a couple but it's not representative of the general opinion!
I recently did a kind of survey around me with family, friends and friends of friends and a vast majority would agree on their brilliant chemistry and they like the storyline, only a few were indifferent but definitely didn't dislike them!!
And I've been told they're very popular on Twitter too and also there is a Fb page for them!!
I have faith in this relationship and in my opinion it's definitely going to last, even if the writers separate them again, it's a long haul one and please Starlight don't be too much influenced by these few negative people on the forum!!

I know it's true but if majority overrule minority, will EE writers realise they have to bring the storyline to an end?
I dont know, it seems like Joey's relationship with Jack/Max will tear apart- he's going to essentially blame them.
And with Max not being 100% happy with them anyway- maybe Joey will tell her he doesnt want anything to do with her and her family. (same goes for Alice)

Eastenders won't stop the storyline based on what viewers think. The only time I've known them to do that was when they cut the Ronnie taking Tommy storyline shorter. It was supposed to go on longer than a few months but I can't remember why they made it shorter. Lauren and Joey's storyline isn't like that. People may not like it but EE will run it anyway. They want different views and opinions on it.

If they love each other that much and want to be together that much they will eventually find a way. I'm not thinking too much into the future. We've got some good things coming up and I'm just going to enjoy it for now. And with Lauren going to college next year I think she's got an opportunity to turn her life around and I think that with Joey she'll cut back on drinking so much as well because she'll be happy. Joey could be very good for her and vice versa.

Exactly! We have to think positive and ignore what other people think, that's just one group of people. We have a good couple of weeks coming up, and a few twists that we are unsure about when dot returns. But we have to think positive and take it one step at a time to what is going to happen in the future.
