That's an interesting point...she's glanced over at him on several occasions then just said "ew he's my cousin" to all who would listen. They all know he is, why the fuss?

I also felt as though Joey was more interested in Lauren until he found out she was a Branning, THEN he turned his attention to Lucy. So there may be some unresolved tension there, on his part.

Even when Whit said would you fancy him if he wasnt your cousin, and Lauren went eww, but Whit said you would if he wasnt your cousin lol

Even their looks suggested that, one scene which was nice i felt was when Lauren went over to him in the pub (this was when the footie team first started) and they talked about Derek, and Lauren listened and told him to be upfront, i just thought atleast someone is listening to Joey and somewhat on his side, coz he was getting no where with Alice coz she wasnt listening to him

Alice just keeps trying the same thing over and over, expecting different results - "Dad! Joey! Let's have lunch together". Einstein would call her mad

They do work really well together, don't they? (Joey and Lauren). I wonder what Lucy will say when she finds out.

Though it makes me laugh about Alice, she has seen Derek is such negative situations and his reactions to how he is and with Joey, still she refuses to listen to what Joey is saying about Derek, how much proof does she want lol

The potential was there from the start because many felt they had better chemistry then what he had with Lucy lol..... it was just how they would develop it,

I had a feeling if Joey/Lauren was going to fall for one another, it would definately be more then a attraction, it would be deeper and we kinda have that, esp as the article is saying Lauren and Joey start to bond, where she confides in him and so on

With Lucy, it's just convenient - a place to stay, a physical relationship, he pretty much does whatever he wants in that house and has even started to influence her views. With Lauren...he can't use any of that as an excuse, apart from maybe sex, but I doubt he'd go out of his way to sleep with his cousin.

As for Alice - she just never learns, either she's stupid or just chooses to ignore the facts.

Alice is just blind i think lol, i get if there was no clues to how her dad is, but she had had first hand look at how he is and what he does, but still no - she wants to be with him lol

With Lucy it was also to wind his dad up which became handy as well, and Lucy was interested, she really didnt hide it much - so like you say it was convenient that they both ended up together and so on

Yeah I completely forgot about that! Derek hates Lucy and seeing his son snogging her must annoy him to no end.

Especially as he kept getting one over him and then helped Lucy a few times lol

Lol true TBH, though, Joey comes across as a mini-Derek so I wonder whether he'll be exactly the same as his dad later in life.

I know he has some of Derek's likeness in some things....... but i would like to think Joey would not hit an woman like Derek does (coz he has seen it happen to his mum, so i would think he would do that to an woman), or even go to the lengths Derek would in some situations'

Joey is also protective, whilst i dont think Derek is protective in a way like Joey is

The negative thing is that more Derek keeps winding Joey up on Joey being like his old man, it gets to you and plays on your mind, and i think it does to Joey at times

TBH we were told that Joey would be more like Derek than he realised, and that has indeed come across rather well on-screen.

I agree, it has come across well on-screen, and also in their first scene together, you kinda saw some of the mannerisms in Joey that Derek has i guess

I wonder why Lauren starts drinking again......... i thought she hadnt been drinking that much lately

She hasn't, and I'm hoping there's a good reason why she starts drinking again.

I am gonna say its something to with Max and Tanya, thats an obvious choice i think, most of the things Lauren has done has stemmed from her so called parents hasnt it.........

Just seen Tyler punch Joey out, from the spoilers in the soap scoop section

Most likely, unless she's drinking to get over the fact that she fancies her cousin and is betraying her best friend.

Tyler punches Joey? I was under the impression that Joey was supposed to be tough enough to handle Derek. Guess I was wrong lol.

I did think that was, that she uses alcohol to cover her fancying him, but i got a feeling that will come after.... me thinks it got to do with her parents - something that makes her drink and then confide in Joey, and that is another moment that brings them closer i think judging by what it says in the article, where she is vunerable and opens up to him....... i think in a way its nice she does that, coz she really hasnt got anyone else to talk to her and someone who listens to her

I think Joey deserves that punch lol

See how good they look together even when off-screen lol

You're probably right, I'm just hoping they don't go down the exact same path as Sharon/Dennis (it's interesting that they chose an actor who looks a little like Nigel Harman in a bad attempt to recreate Dennis lol).

Its hard not to think of Dennis when looking at Joey - but i think i have gone past that now lol

Funny thing was i was never into Dennis, whilst ppl were mad over him - i just didnt see it what ppl saw in him lol, but Dennis/Sharon's storyline worked

A vague resemblance aside, I see nothing Dennis-like about Joey.

I personally invested in his character; others thought his acting came across as "wooden" but I felt as though his reactions worked well because he was supposed to be emotionally damaged, and I therefore felt that he was almost always confused when it came to showing emotion. His anger, however, was a trait that I actually felt came naturally to him. He had a certain sinister edge about him, a really powerful presence. I really enjoyed his relationship with Den - first dealing with rejection (his pain felt real) then an uneasy partnership to take Phil on. Then there was Sharon, and Den's reaction to their relationship.

So, for me, it was both his characterisation and a series of what I thought were great storylines.

Forbbiden love? Yeah right. Forbidden lust and horniness more like. The only person Joey loves (apart from himself) is Alice and Lauren (who looks more and more like Georgia Jones with each passing episode) loves only the bottle.

I also see nothing Dennis like in Joey, and if there was - so what in a way, there are many ppl in this world that are same lol, god forbid if a soap has two same traits character lol

Honestly like i said i didnt think much of him........ but as you have said - what Nigel did, it worked, coz thats how Dennis was and suppose to be, even his scenes with Dot.

One scene that always sticks out to me, which was so well done was the one in the vic - i think it was Den and Dennis arguing and shoving each other, and Sharon came in to stop them but Dennis in his rage accidently shoved her which he didnt mean to.... but Den twisted it around and made it seem his fault and took Sharon away, and Dot is the only one from the crowd in the vic who went to Dennis to take him home, and we saw that single lone tear from Dennis eyes fall down, it spoke volumes

Do you remember that scene?

Yes I'll never forget that scene. I was honestly shocked by it, having not read the spoilers beforehand. The fact that Dot was the only one to help him brings me to another reason why I liked Dennis - his relationship with Dot. I felt as though he thought of her as a surrogate mum and he was the son she never had because Nick was the devil incarnate.

I thought Nigel was so good in that scene..... nothing was said but an tear

Dot always had that with Dennis and also Bradley, the son she never had, and wanted, she got that in them, its sad to now think they both gone in terms of how many ppl die who Dot has been close to

Indeed. By extension, Heather, Pauline and of course Lou could all be added to that list. No wonder Dot needed some time away from the Square.
