And yes I had contacted my humax . com, and yes one of them was very helpfull, and showed me how to register (which is not as easy as it sounds, there site us not as user freindly as this one) so that is what I meant by helpfull.
I read on the forum that fix to the olympic recordinding proplem was being worked on and that beta people would try it first; which I am not one, so I would need to wait like everyone else, I was pleased to get this information and that's it

I knew nothing about the HDR problem and tried to record equestrian today - 7 hours. The box appeared to be recording and stopped at the correct time. Of course - no recording in the media list.

Has this taken up any hard drive space?

It shouldn't have (hopefully). The big recording file (.ts) get's deleted because the indexing file (.nts) has no content.

Just hope by tomorrow morning (Monday) it's fixed - so all the stuff recorded whilst working gets saved. Don't hold my hopes up.
Alternatively just record BBC1 or 3; or select the most promising stream and record that all day from the non-freesat interactive SD channels.

Sorry there is no way that you will get back content lost.

10.30am, 6 days after problem identified, day 4 of the 17-day Olympics, & Humax / Freesat / AnonymousEntityThat CausedThis apparently can't even state how long it will take to produce a fix. Meaning a solid, official fix, rather than a bootleg backdoor beta - "We might put out a dodgy version, but you'll be using it at your peril" or whatever the wording of that absurd message was on Friday.

And if they had pushed out that fix with no testing as soon as they had it and it had all gone tits up? You find that a preferable risk?

gomezz - I certainly wouldn't. Points I'm making are 1/ this far into the mess, Humax are doing their usual "silence is the best customer service" routine, They've identified the problem, they know what resource they have, why can't they tell people when they'll get the fix done? Past form suggests they'll just sit it out. And 2/ if, as you're implying, they care about not putting dodgy fixes out, how come the history of this box is peppered with iffy half-fixes, apparently-sanctioned home software versions, and 'news' arriving on this forum via a mate of a bloke down the pub whose wife once worked for them?

I'm honestly surprised that anyone tries to defend them - it's a good machine, I've recommended it to friends, but really, when they have to do any kind of fixes, it's inevitably Carry On Humax time.

Barry (My Humax Forum) advises
"Latest software can be downloaded from

http://beta.humaxonline.co.uk/downloads/foxsat-hdr

An OTA should be broadcast from later this afternoon."

why can't they tell people when they'll get the fix done?
Firstly they did. Even if it was rather at first to admit they were unsure if they could and when they could get it fixed.

And secondly what would people do with this information?

The updated software is now available for OTA download.
I have just done an OTA update on a Humax FOXSAT-HDR. Initial brief tests suggests that it works.

I imagine that Humax are not the only people that have to sign off on it.

gomezz - look, I'm pleased and happy that they've got the fix done. But my reaction to this, and my (unchanged) feelings in general are that they are a mess when it comes to keeping customers on-side.

The first thing that came out last week was pretty final sounding - we're sorry but we won't be able to fix it. That's it. And by the way, aren't we wonderful for getting all those channels to work at all? I won't reiterate all the bits of non-info that have been flying about since then.

What would people do if they were given a conservative estimate re when the fix would be done? They would have been informed, kept onboard, and most people I know prefer that to being in the dark and guessing. Maybe it's the odd company I keep.

No intention to cause offence to you or anyone else here - I just think that if you sell such a decent product, it's a hell of a shame to turn customers against you with shambolic customer relations and endlessly screwed-up updates.

So you think you would have got a better response from Microsoft or Apple "the technical team is working on a solution - when this is tested and available it will be released".

A team member might tell his leader "it is looking good" but there is a QA process that they strictly follow. My guess is that if it had been one of the previously mentioned orgs it might have been several days longer.

I must say I await the next gen sat product with cash in hand.
