My Virgin Experience
i thought they were good, up until today.....
the PIN code had mysteriously changed from what i had set it to, so i entered what i thought it was and the sim needed a PUK, so i phoned them up.... got put on hold for 10 mins so i went upstairs to my pc, went onto virginmobile.com and started to login with the number and passcode i made up when i registered the account (in my name), it wouldn't log in, so i went to reset the passcode, but it kept telling me the customer care centre password is incorrect (when i set it myself when i registered, and i dont EVER forget stuff like that...) and now, it just says web access to that account has been disabled.... The Conclusion it seems that i have wasted 15 mins of my time trying to make the thing work again, on the phone & online. so now i'm stuck with a "locked from web access account" and a useless sim (just a spare), so i'm now binning it

How did Virgin get your mother's name ? This could only happen if it was registered in her name as they don't have access to a list of peoples mother's.
Is it possible that your mother has a Virgin SIM as well? And you have accidentally put her's in? You don't seem particularly worried about this, but if you want to use it again. Get your mother to phone Virgin , she will get the PUK and get your web account unlocked. A handy hint: If you try to access ANY web account and it doesn't work. Do NOT keep re-trying! Click on the "Forgotten Password" link. This will save a huge amount of trouble. |

If it were my account that had been changed to my mums name, had it's pin changed and 6 digit pass number changed all at the same time I'd be a bit concerned. Did they give any reason as to how this could have all happened?

But that is exactly the sort of experience many people have with orange. I recently have changed from orange back to virgin because I was sick of orange and always remembered the excellent customer service that virgin provided. They haven't disappointed me. I would recommend virgin to anyone. Quote:

How could Virgin, all by itself. a) Find out your mother's name b) Change the PIN number (cannot be done over the air only on the handset!) c) Change the pass number for the website. The only thing they could possibly have done is change your pass number, the other two are impossible. This is why I ask about your mother. From the way you write your posts , Ben1900, I guess you're a young lad, you probably don't realise that Virgin can't find out your parents name. There is no magical list that tells them your mum's name. That means someone must have changed the account details. The most likely thing is that your parents did this to stop you accessing that SIM. It would be the first time a parent has tried to stop a young kid doing something. If they didn't then someone else has phoned Virgin, pretending to be you, answered the security questions and changed the details. - Pretty unlikely. |

Unless your mum did have a Virgin account in the past and when you registered your phone it came up the same address so they just registered it on your mums account, I have 3 numbers on my virgin account, ones a suspended number which i got suspended because of prank calls, anothers my main number and the others just my second virgin number which is getting ported over to Hutchison 3G on 30th November
