I remember people thinking she would be a bad dr who sidekick! But i think Donna Noble was one of the best ever

Didn't like her in The Runaway Bride.

Watched the forum meltdown when it was announced that she was going to be the next companion. The online petition against was very vile, with some of the things that were said.

I said at the time I'd wait and see what the character was like as a regular.

I loved her. My favourite NuWho companion, though Rory comes close.

An excellent and very underrated actress that despite all the initial hate and bile from the 'fans' still managed to win over a huge number of them.

For me Donna became the most iconic companion of new Who, in many ways she is the closest to a classic companion like Romana or Tegan.

I can't join the others in elevating her much above the average, but I'll join in the condemnation of those self-proclaimed 'fans' that came out viciously against her in advance of her regular debut.

She did a very good job in the role and was more than qualified for it; just subjectively speaking she's not a favourite.

She won me over in Planet of the Ood. She acted her socks off. She is a talented woman, no one can take that away from her.

My favourite new-Who companion. Doctor 10/Donna are right up there with Doctor 4/Sarah Jane for me. The fact we only had one season of her really left me wanting more.

Clearly not everyone's cup of tea but I certainly wouldn't agree that Donna is a love-her-or-hate-her companion, as some forum members have tried to present her.

As you're probably aware, she's not my favourite companion, I didn't like her that much in The Runaway Bride, but when she became a regular taking over from Martha I became annoyed, luckily Martha appeared 5 times in that series so I was okay with that, and Donna won me over in The Fires of Pompeii and she brought emotion and comedy to the show. If I had to rank the companions she'd probably come about 5th, but she is by no means my least favourite companion.

She was okay. Not more than okay, not less than okay, just okay.

After seeing about 5 minutes of her 'comedy' program, I was expecting a train wreck.

But she was brilliant! My favourite companion!

I had reservations of her and I did find Donna annoying in The Runaway Bride - on original transmission.

Now I love her in that episode and Series 4, so all good in the end.

When the writers wrote for 'Donna Noble' instead of 'Catherine Tate' we got some beautifully sensitive moments from an otherwise brash and overbearing character.

What let the character down ... which wasn't Catherine's fault ... is that some of her lines seemed like they were written with her comic delivery in mind but without the input of her own natural comedic talent.

Note to the future ... write for the character, not the actor!

It takes a lot for me to admit I'm wrong.

I enjoyed her a lot in The Runaway Bride - I think she was just what the show needed. Friendly enough, but loud and distracting so that we're not moping along with Ten over the loss of Rose on Christmas Day. I never imagined she was the sort of character who could pull off a full series though.
When I first saw the trailers for Series 4, I was already converted a little. Out of that wedding dress, it looked like she would be bringing a nice dose of sentiment and fun to the show. That she did, and Tate threw in some amazing emotional acting as well. Add Bernard Cribbins and the hilarious Jacqueline King to her family and I was amazed. Come the end of Series 4, I was devastated by her exit and only wished she could have stayed longer. I admit that on my prejudgement, I was entirely wrong about her. She remains my favourite companion of all.

She was wonderful in Series 4, never a disappointment. Lovely character by a great actress. Best companion for the 10th Doctor.

I'd go further and say Best Single Companion for New Who.

She was annoying as hell in The Runaway Bride, and rightfully so. I still love the way she developed - from being someone who can embrace the madness with brashness, to eventually discovering how useful her skills are and becoming a mother figure to her fake children and Jenny.
And then losing it all again.

Yes - I enjoy Runaway Bride more now, when I watch it retrospectively (although I did mostly enjoy it at the time).

Its actually really weird watching Runaway Bride/Partners in Crime back to back - strange to think there is a whole season of Who and another companion in between.

Catherine Tate is a good actress so that helped. Donna was a likeable character. However, unlike many I found series 4 pretty poor and thusly didn't really take to Donna as much as I had hoped.
