Happy Fear Her Day!

So, this is the exact day where the episode Fear Her took place, meaning that it makes the change from an episode set in the future to an episode set in the past (even though it was written in 2006).
So, watch out for people going missing and strange possessed children who like drawing today.

Are there any other episodes which made the switch from being set in the future to being in the past? Episodes set only one year in the future like a lot of series 4 ones don't count. I'm talking about episodes which were originally set a good few years in the future, but are now in the past.

I know the episode, Dalek, was set in 2012, but I've no idea exactly when.

Absolutely no idea. My knowledge of Classic Who is minuscule.
That's why I asked the experts on this forum.

Somewhere in there.

Also (one of the more controversial points) there are indications that the UNIT stories from the 70's were supposed to take place in the 80's.

The Invasion, from 1968, was supposed to be happening around 1975.

Dalek may have been one like that also.

The 1996 TV Movie was set in 1999-2000

the unit thing is funny. you were obviously supposed to watch them as being set 'in the future' (by a few years) yet as a child i never viewed them as that

and now looking back you view them as being set in the 60s/70s

Thanks for that..

I'd managed to forget about the totally sucky abomination that was "Fear her"... Now I've got to forget about it all over again !

I wonder if there will be any reference to the show in tonight's ceremony.

It seems there will be references to many of the UK's greatest imports, music and so -on....I wonder if a snippet of the theme tune will make an appearance...or maybe the Tardis.

Yes, 1986.

Never understood all the hate for Fear Her. I quite liked it. It certainly wasn't Who at the top of its game but there have been far worse stories (just pick one at random from series 6, for example )

YES!
In all seriousness though, you could probably write a very good low budget episode. They don't have to be terrible...
...but even I'd agree that Fear Her wasn't exactly outstanding.

Probably the cheapest story ever was Inside the Spaceship (The Edge of Destruction). No extra characters, all happens in the TARDIS. And it was good. And weird.

Going to watch Fear Her at 5pm - not a great episode, but totally the right day to watch it!

I thought I was under attack by the scribble monster, but a leaf had blown in through the wndow!

I rather like Fear Her. Sweet and inoffensive. Nothing in it to annoy me, which was something of a blessing for DW of that era ...

Again, I'd rather watch the worst of Doctor Who than the best of Don't Bother the Bunny or most anything else.

Wasn't Battlefield with McCoy set in what was then the near future? I seem to recall some scene featuring a 'five pound coin' or some such.

I got very fearful when I was pursued by a huge fuzzy squiggly line earlier, but it turned out to be Dave Lee-Travis looking for Aung San Suu Kyi.

Yeah I think it was 2015, but not sure if it was ever dated on-screen

Though the Doctor was there in this timeline as well.

It was said to be a few years in Ace's future so it would be sometime in the 1990's.

Surely the Brigs age would suggest it could not be as late as 2015.

Empty seats at the Olympics?
Well that's one thing to come true.
Maybe Fear Her was more accurate than first thought!

More to the point, he died with his actor last year.
