I have a nexus 7 and an Asus transformer (original). I have to say that the transformer is great with its keyboard and extended battery but the nexus 7 is now the one I reach for to use. Much quicker and easier to handle. The lack of storage isn't an issue with both cloud storage, a nas drive or otg cable connection to a USB drive all being viable options.

the lack of storage and connectivity is a major problem for me. Just did a two week trip in africa and was able to store 500mb of media on portable hard disk with the transformer powered. Was able to watch media straight off there. God send, kept the kids occupied on all the long trips.

But everyone has different uses, for me cloud is a no go and if you are without a PC then cable connection is useless.

Plus I find the 10" screen is a big noticeable difference to 7" (and the screen is the correct aspect ratio for movies) and with the base unit also being a stand I could just leave it on a table and leave it running.

What do you think of this:

Is it what I need and is it better than the Nexus

I'm sorry if I'm driving you mad, but for me it's a big purchase and I want to get it right ”

If you looking for a 10" device for around 275 quid mark then second hand transformer to me is a better device all round then the samsung.

One concern I have with the Transformer is the wear and tear on the connectors if you frequently connect and disconnect it from the keyboard. Is that a valid reason for concern or am I worring about nothing?

My 5 and 9 year old kids use my all the time and no problems with the connector. Its got two metal claws which hold the tablet to the dock and it seems secure enough. There are also a couple of guides which stop the connector being misaligned unless you use a lot of force and not heard of a common issue on the transformer forums either.

Thanks, that product is starting to look rather tempting.

Its certainly a great piece of kit if you go for the keyboard too. Its an extended battery, a stand and a screen protector all in one ... plus you can type stuff on it obviously

So why hasn't Flash been abandoned by desktops too?
Lets hope Firefox maintains its compatibility
