Her Maj and James Bond acting a scene together- now that's something you don't see every day!

Loved that bit.

What do the copper kettles contain?

I suspect a handful of soil from each country, to leave behind on the Britannic island.

Absolutely AMAZING!! Loved the whole lot so far and in particular the Brit music section!...... Not sure what the rest of the world will make of it though.

I'm glad I have recorded it as I want to watch it all again.

Lets have a vote on the best outfit from the variou contingents. Write down what you liked, a paddle from 1 to 10.

Yes that topless Fiji guy is eligible.

Brilliant night of TV.... It must have been awesome to have been there in that stadium. Definitely a night to remember for those there.

Having 6 young athletes take on an adult'sful torch was inspired. Then for them to light up 207 country copper kettles which then rose up into one united flame was sensational. It was beautifully eloquent -- not Britain's Olympics, the world's Olympics.

On team wear, the 6 ladies of Jordan in medieval evening wear would have won a poise competition if there was one. The Italians wore Armani, men and women. As always, flawless glamour and charm.

For me the winner was a surprise -- Paraguay

dull, very dull, I didnt like it. Very disappointed .
I actually fell asleep at some point and Im not kidding.
The highlights for me were the James Bond part with the Queen that I really enjoyed and the Symphonic Orchestra part .
Other than that what a letdown it was from the 2008 Beijing Olympics well imo anyway

I wasn't bowled over by the USA's military-style berets (only a 3 from me, I'm afraid), but I loved how everybody else, even those from the most troubled countries, had made the effort to look ready to party. Well done to the countries who have entered female competitors for the first time. My favourite uniform has to be the UK's white and gold. It reflects our national character far better than the buttoned-up image we've been saddled with for years. A whopping 10!!!

Could not agree more, I loved that bit too Thought the opening show was spectacular. The best part was when the Aussie team came out

As much as that is true, the British opening night cost £27million as opposed to China's £67million.

While China was absolutely amazing, I'm sure I'm not alone in being thankful UK waste £67 mill; in these days of cuts etc., £27mil was outrageous enough

It was my favorite uniform too! When we was watching the opening ceremony, my brother said that Team GB has the worse uniform out of any of the teams, and I simply told him to STFU and enjoy the show or get given a broken nose! He immediately gave me a look and stopped complaining!
