I got a reply from Sony Ericsson about this problem, not very helpful, this is what they said:
With regards to your enquiry, we are aware of this issue and currently Sony Ericsson are working together with O2 to rectify this problem. One option for you to try is to turn off your phone and remove the battery for about 30 seconds then restart your phone. Sometimes this can solve the issue all together. Unfortunately at present we do not have a definitive solution for this problem but the investigation is on going to locate the reasons for this. Blah, blah, blah!!! I did a master reset on the phone and it has worked fine, just make sure you back up all your numbers before doing so... |

Will doing the ##21# thing work for all networks that are being a bit slow in delivering messages? I'm on Virgin and have been receiving late texts for a couple of weeks now.
MJS - mashed potato asked this question above. Will it work for other networks? I suspect not though??

Dont know if this will help anyone but Ive just taken out a new o2 contract and cant receive texts from other networks, I can send to any network but only receive from o2 users. Rang the not-so help line got passed from customer services to networks services who had to check with the faults department, the upshot of a 25+ min phone call was ....... not sure, but doesnt look like an o2 problem. Now, a mate of mines son works at a call centre in Bury (wish he had told me before the bl00dy phone call !!!) rang him and he imediately said "let me guess your prefix is 07921 ..... " turns out, and I could do with someone confirming this is they could please, that o2 have started using this new prefix for some new contracts and have informed the other networks, but the other networks havent twiddled there knobs to accommodate just yet ..... anyone else have this problem ?
cheers .......

cheers .......I'm in the same boat mate... Just got a new K700i on O2 and my number also has the prefix 07921xxxxx... My phone will receive texts from anyone on the O2 network but not from any other network... I can send texts fine as well, but its just the receiving which if fubard! They even sent me a replacement handset as they thought the K700i might have been at fault, but its not - it does exacltly the same as the other handset. The sh1tter is that they dont know when its guna be fixed, so i'm now wondering whether to cancel the phone and go with someone else or ney... Can you believe that you can find out more info from a p1ssing Internet Forum than you can from these jokers at o2 - I've spoke to them 3 times and got a different answer from each and every special individual i spoke to... Super! *********************************************** |

To the guys who tried the 'breach of contract' / disconnect me now line with O2 ....
To get my K700i, I had to renew my 02 contract for 12 months - that was last June. So, I presume I'm stuffed ? I can't be disconnected even if I wanted to be, could I, as I have 6 months to run on the contract. Any thought / suggestions ? So good to know I'm not the only person in this blasted boat !! |

Can i send big thanks to Truewhite on the 07921 problem that they highlighted on this site.
I've only had my phone 4 days and realised that the text message service was intermittent. Called o2 and whilst 'on hold' for the Network Service dept went into google and typed in 'o2 text problems'. Lo and behold I then read this site and find out that the reason I can't get texts off some people is because my number is a 07921 one. Got through to the department and told them what I had read on this site. They admitted it is correct and the problem is that o2 in their infinite wisdom released this new pre-fix without ensuring that the other mobile company customers could text to them. o2's suggestion of how to resolve this was for me to ask my friends to contact their mobile phone companies and tell them the problem so the phone company could sort it - Who the hell at o2 wrote that for a script???? Asked for a new mobile number and was told I would have to pay £35 for the priviledge. Anyway, after much too-ing and fro-ing they agreed to change my number but...and here's a shocker for you, the Number Allocation department was closed so I would have to call back because God forbid that someone at o2 would have to 'take ownership' of my problem. Since then I've spoken with the company I bought my phone from mobileshop.com and they contacted me today to say that Orange and T-Mobile we can get texts off, Vodaphone need to do something so their customers can send text and that will be done in the next 48 hours. I'll check next week, let y'all know. Oh, just one more quick point. I contacted Watchdog last night by email and today I received to voicemail asking me to contact their office about all this mess. I'll also let y'all know what happens on this. |

I have had the phone now (brought a sim free one) and was using it with my O2 PAYG sim, no probs until this evening when the missus rang me at work saying she had sent me messages but I had not replied.....I tried the ##21# and have set the network selection to manual, and it seems to have fixed the problem, wether or not its a permenant fix remains to be seen....I will be ringing O2 in the morning to stick in my 2p's worth...

i to have problems with recieving texts on my o2, but my prefix is 07843 so its probably not the same as you all have with the 07921 prefix. i normally have to switch my phone off and switch it back on and hope this fixes it, it doesnt always do so.
with regards to my network signal, of all my friends with o2, i have to say, my signal reception is shocking comapred to them. i have a k700i, my friends have nokia's, is it a SE problem (not picking up a good a signal as nokia) or could it be because i got my contract from the internet and use a different network, my friends are both PAYG and contract. |

Steven it's not just the 07921 affected. My prefix is 07841 and I've not received a number of texts to my K700i.

Hi again chaps and chapess's.
Spoke with Watchdog on Monday and guy I spoke to is putting together a programme on o2 and the K700i issue. Apparently they've been inundated with people telling them about not receiving texts to these phones and that although o2 are more than aware of the issue they continue to sell the phones. He contacted me as my query although similar, involved another phone (Nokia 6260). Told him all about the posting and about the 07291 issue which he wasn't aware of. When i spoke to the company i purchased my phone with mobileshop.com on Friday, they had contacted Vodaphone about the 07291 thing and they said they would resolve it by today which may or may not explain why Truewhite is now receiving texts??! To be honest i'm so hacked off with o2's service, according to Watchdog they are by far the worst Mobile Company when it comes to the amount of complaints they get; that i've decided to send my phone back. Can't bring myself to give them £25 of my hard earned every month. So i'm sticking with Orange, thank god i didn't cancel my phone with them. So thanks again Truewhite for sharing the knowledge and to everyone else look out for Watchdog in the new year, first programme back apparently! Happy Christmas y'all |

I haven't been able to receive texts from someone for the last 2 days. She's also on o2, and I've had no texts from her since Monday Night. Don't you just hate o2 sometimes???

Hello, I'm on my 3rd K700i from O2 Online - and just like all you guys I've had major issues with the customer services - one guy even shouted at me!
I have a 07841 prefix so please let all of us know when/if the Watchdog programme is going to be aired! Thanks |

O2 are just taking the pi55 now. It's way out of order. I'm fed up of sending texts that aren't being received and not being able to receive texts. I tried the ##21# thing and the manual network selection thing but they haven't seemed to do much good. If this continues, i'll be switching to Orange or T-Mobile.
