Vastra & Strax (speculation/spoiler)

I'm a bit confused as to when the Vastra/Jenny episode in S7b takes place in relation to AGMGTW.

Strax is in the episode (in what looks like a butler's suit) which led me to two possibilities ...

1 - The episode is set after AGMGTW, it turns out Strax survived and is now Vastra's butler.
...or...
2 - The episode is set prior to AGMGTW, Strax is the butler of another charatcer (likely the main antagonist) and Vastra hasn't met the Doctor yet.

Either way the episode is likely to give more insight into the Doctor's prior involvment with these characters which was referenced in A Good Man Goes To War.

What do other people think ... are we due a rest from recurring characters popping up out of sync with the Doctor's timeline?

Is it even Strax? Sontarans are clones, so it could be a different individual.

It did look a lot like Strax.

But that's the point. Sontarans are clones. I know when they have more than one on screen at a time they tend to make them look slightly different. However, if it is just one Sontaran, they might just re-use the Strax mask for another character.

But I'm probably wrong.

Makes you wonder with all the timey whimeyness of the series. Only way to find out is to wait and watch on the day it is shown.

“Dan Starkey, who plays the Sontaran Commander Strax, previously appeared as Sontarans in "The Sontaran Stratagem" / "The Poison Sky" (2008) and The End of Time (2010). Neve McIntosh, who played the Silurian Warrior Vastra, previously played the sisters Alaya and Restac in "The Hungry Earth" / "Cold Blood" (2010).”

Not to mention Christopher Ryan playing Staal in "Stratagem/Sky" and Stark in "The Pandorica Opens". It's a great excuse to be able to kill off characters but keep bringing back the actors who you already have masks fitted for.

Just looking at that wiki page, Moff had planned a Captain Jack appearance for AGMGTW but he was too busy doing Torchwood BARROWMAN!!! *shakes fist*
