IPad - Should One do any Maintenance?
I have an Ipad3.
I've read the Guide. Nothing in there about any regular 'maintenance' I should perhaps be doing. Like. say, 'defragging' or scanning for 'errors' As you would on a PC. Is there anything I should do regularly? Many thanks. |

Nope, just remember to setup backups; either to iCloud or manually to a computer.

Defragging is something you need to do to traditional hard drives, no need when dealing with flash memory.
Scanning for errors is if something in the OS gets damaged, if this does happen (very unlikely) you would have to do a reinstall via iTunes and restore from your backup. Other things like a virus scanner isn't needed either as all apps are controlled by Apple and if one was later found to be a virus Apple could remotely pull it from your device. Not having to do all that maintenance crap is one of the things I love about iOS, just set it to sync via iCloud and it will do a backup every night. |

It is good practise to run out the battery until it turns off once a month or so to condition the battery.

I found the battery indicator on my old iPhone 3 to be off so I followed this very advice and it killed the battery. I personally wouldn't recommend doing this once a month as there is just very little need in modern batteries. |

So when/how often to charge the iPad then? I read somewhere 20% but most places do reccommend the once a month run down too.

Lithium batteries are very robust, you are perfectly fine to just put it on a nightly charge. |
