The Vodafone Big Top 40 technical problems
Metro Radio and Real Radio Ne appear to be having problems with BT40. Any other stations?

Must have been a problem with the satellite distribution, as the same here on the South Coast, kept cutting in and out like digital break-up

I noticed Ridings FM didn't have it on.

I would've thought they streamed it on a 'fixed' line rather than satellite ? In relation.. They've updated their jingle package. |

Same on Free Radio. There was an Emile Sande track that seemed to keep dropping out and then started sounding like they were playing it from an old dodgy cassette tape. Think the emergency backup started up as well at one point.

Here's a question.
I'm assuming all the stations that take the show would get some sort of documention of that week's chart, so could they theorectically make up their own back up tape with the songs on, to play in at times of technical problems, so the only thing that would be missing would be the presenter & possibly the special jingles, unless they were provided as well? |

But why make a back up tape every week? That would cost time and money. The whole point is that the networked chart is there to do that job each week. It's not like it fails all the time.

Obviously there are many young folk on here, judging by the panic when a breakdown occurs! Equipment is not infallible and things happen - get used to it! It's happened TWICE!! Geez, come on nobody died!

I admit I don't listen, as the music's too young for me, but I was curious anyway, so thats why I asked.

The Global stations would have been OK as already stated as it goes through their internal network. The other stations rely on the secondary IRN feed from satellite, and that was what was buggered it would seem.
EDIT: I was in the car and the missus had Heart on so we weren't privvy to any issues. When did the problem start and how long for? |
