Where Do You Go To Find Out About New Music?
We all like hearing songs before anyone else... What sites do you visit?
Digital Spy & Youtube of course but what else?

Usually listening to urban radio you hear songs very early, sometimes before they're even completely finished!
Often artists also play songs early in clubs, to test the public opinion a bit before they fully decide to release it, so if you go clubbing a lot you probably hear a lot of songs from local artists very early. And also they tend to get recorded by someone and put of Facebook or Youtube aswell. There's also lots of specialist hip hop websites I go on, where it's easy to find any song by a notable artist the day it's released or gets leaked. |

I go "exploring" on iTunes or Spotify, search for random music-related words on youtube, and sometimes I'm just lucky when I turn on the telly on a music video channel.

Last.fm, here on DS and Youtube are good places to look. I also have an app on my Macbooks (Pro and Air) called Discovr Music. You type in the name of an artist/band you like and it suggests similar artists. You can listen to samples of artists' music on it too.

Usually Spotify for me.
Although I have a mate too who is boss at discovering new music, so he usually shares his latest findings with me too.

Well, as previously mentioned I go the Buzzjack forum for their new release schedule. Ditto Digital Spy, Official Charts and NME's version (also have a look at their 10 tracks you must hear this week feature).
I have a look at the Radio 1 playlist, and subscribe to the RSS new releases' feed on the BBC Music website. I listen to the New to Q show on Q Radio. It only features artists up to and including their first album: http://www.facebook.com/notes/q-radi...76481795697789 I see what's just come out on iTunes (the new artists' section, too) and also have a look at the Spotimy (I said Spotimy) website to see what new albums have come out that week. Going on to Spotify I look to see if there's been any recent singles from those albums. Finally, I combine all the tracks I find onto a weekly playlist on Spotify: http://open.spotify.com/user/gareth8...hWyhlYRX1H3Wf0 *WARNING* I've just finished putting this together. Haven't listened to it and done any quality control, so there may be some real cack on there. Anyway, I put that in a folder along with the previous two week's worth, sync it to my generic MP3 player, take it to work et voila, all the beauty of music radio with none of the Moyles and Cottons of this world |

The music channels unfortunately. I knowit is not the best source of finding new music because they are so comercial.

Not for a made-in-bedroom grime act maybe, but you will certainly hear plenty of stuff on 6Music you won't hear on any other station. And certainly not Xfm. It's a constant source of new music for me, along with Mr Lowe.
