stupid notifications
galaxy ace 2
my phone makes a noise when the battery is low ( as most phones do) when I put it on charge, it makes an annoying sound when the battery is full, and tells me to unplug the charger. this wakes me up. if i put the phone on silent, it vibrates instead. even if i switch vibrate off. this wakes me up too. ive looked for settings or apps to disable this....... it seems to be not possible. help! |

You're not really supposed to leave you charger plugged in when the battery is full. However download volume control by core code you should be able to mute 'everything' with it. Give that a try

Whilst it may use a little electricity I wouldn't say you are not supposed to leave it plugged in. |

Unfortunately, most, if not all, Samsung Galaxy phones are like this. Believe me, I know - I had a Samsung Galaxy S (now a Note), and I did the same thing, looking all over the internet for a solution but could not find one at the time.
The only thing I can suggest is, short of charging the phone in a different room from where you're sleeping, is to cover/muffle the phone so it does not disturb you. The sound/light only goes on for a few seconds. I hope that helps a bit. |

thanks but i need to keep the phone in the same room as me because its also my alarm clock for the mornings!
I looked at some of the volume control apps... but the problem is that my phone still vibrates because I put it on silent mode overnight (even with vibration turned off!) there are SO many people complaining about it all over the internet!!! why can Samsung not listen to their customers and give us an option to disable this notification! |

Many people won't notice this, and it probably won't matter to many people. But for optimum battery life you should unplug when reaching one hundred percent. |

The S2 did that with gingerbread but it's been disabled in ICS.....Wait for the Ace2 to get ICS and it will be cured.
The phones don't hurt being left on charge as they are programmed to manage themselves. |

I overnight charge an s2 on gingerbread (don't want ics as I know it breaks some apps I use). I have llama from the play store, to make the phone silent from midnight to 7am, never been woken by a notification, from the battery or otherwise.

I use a timer plug with a multi-gang extension for my phone/tablet/mp3 player etc. Works perfectly for all sorts of tech gear
I set it so that it switches on about 5a.m. for a couple of hours (your mileage may vary), charges the phone & anything else, then switches off again before I get up in the morning. Yes, my Samsung Note still lets me know it's done but I can ignore that if it's on vibrate. |

I leave mine plugged in overnight. The phones manage the charge so no damage is done to either it or the battery.

I'm pleased I read this thread. I was already 95% decided on a One X as my next phone, and this is helping push up the score! I always charge my phone overnight and I also use it as my alarm clock. Samsung need to rethink this 'feature'.

I use my s2as an alarm too, this isn't an issue. Use an app and make it silent & vibration off overnight. You can make certain contacts bypass this too, if you're worried about missing an important call in the middle of the night. The alarm can override the silent setting also.

I have the HTC One and it's fine in the hand, I also leave it charging overnight and use it as my alarm, I did the same with my SGII and it didn't do any harm.

I appreciate a warning beep in the middle of the night is annoying, and as a consumer there should be something you can do to stop it, but I just to settle something.....
Samsung's "unplug the charger at 100%" policy means THE CHARGER should be unplugged from it's socket as it will always draw a little power even if it is not charging the phone. This is advised for environmental, power saving, concerns. It is nothing to do with battery damage. The manual even states "To save energy, unplug the charger when not in use. The charger does not have a power switch, so you must unplug the charger from the electric socket when not in use to avoid wasting power. The device should remain close to the electric socket while charging." With regard over charging, the only reference is in the safety guide, which states "Avoid charging your device for more than a week, as overcharging may shorten battery life." Do you hear that Internet scaremongers? A WEEK!! That article quoted above is pure BS designed to sell stuff. |
