BD-Live what happened?

Whatever happened to BD-Live?

Tonight I just got in the mood to watch one of my older Blu-rays and ended up picking 21. This had BD-Live so I thought I would check out what kind of things it might have on it. It loaded up and all there was, was a message stating that I could go to Sony website to view upcoming film trailers - and an OK button.

That was it, seems a complete waste. I remember the older advertising about BD-Live and how it was going to be this huge deal, with chats, games, extra commentaries, and a whole load of special features not on the disc.

So I wondered is there any decent BD-Live on other Blu-rays? Anyone use this feature at all? What does everyone else feel about this now almost dead feature?

Yeah, I get the impression that the movie studios are just using it as an advertising feature. The only time I've really used it was on Tropic Thunder. There was quite a few extra interviews and features, but I've not checked since.

I think The Dark Knight used it for a fan screening / Q & A once though.

A few of mine have proper BDlive content to do with the film, one of which is Terminator 2 Skynet edition and another off the top of my head is Transformers.
After seeing this tread today I had a look at T2's BDlive and I think the main problem is that it just takes too long for it to load up, especially if it contains alot of HD content.
It sounds good on paper, but in reality it's shite and I'd sooner have any extra content put on a special features disc.

It does take a long while, and I too prefer just having them on the Disc, I just remember the big deal they were making about this new system that was going to revolutionise the way we watch films, have discussions with your friends (while they are in different house) and things like that.

I do think the amount of time it took to log on was one of the pitfalls I know a few people who never use the feature because of this alone.
