Welcome everybody to part 23. It is quite lonely here at the moment. Look after it well !

However, no doubt G-S will be along shortly with the facts and figures for part 22.

Damn blast and other words!!

I just did a post about Nick Abbot and when I posted the reply I was told that the thread was closed.

Okay, I'll post it again.

Nick, the yummy one, has finally watched the opening ceremony and HE LIKED IT!! Good for him for admitting it, many wouldn't. He was, however, right about two things, Paul McCartney with the Hey Jude load of out-of-tune garbage and the empty seats, Amanda agreed that he'd been telling us about this for weeks and he was so right.

Just got to love Nick Abbot.

Ooops moved again! I've no idea why but I always think the thread's been locked for good when this happens.

I was just going to ask if anyone has news of VQ? I think I saw that someone here was in contact with her a couple of weeks ago. I hope she's ok.

I only switched on after 11am, but is this LBC struggling already to know how to respond to the Olympics? They feel they have to talk about it, but it's been wall-2-wall opening ceremony comments all weekend already.

There must be something else going on, surely?

Well Nick discussed Syria, and also 'whistle-blowing' for the Armed Forces.

I believe that she's got connection problems, I wish she'd hurry up and get it fixed, I miss her loads.

I think it was Gildy who said she was having computer problems.

Of course there is but, as g-s said, James has spent all weekend preparing a rant against criticism by some that the Opening Ceremony was too 'political'.

I don't think it's an LBC issue, as mentioned already NF's show was pretty well balanced, it's just James needing to have his say. I think it was pretty selfish of him really because, as you say, it's been done to death all weekend on LBC.

Thanks Shirl, I should have guessed it was him. Where's he though?

He is the name that voices the jingles. They have been updated for 2012.

I'm all Olympicked (how the hell would you spell that word?) out. I'm bored with the sound of the word, I'm not interested except for the fact that Nick (Yummy) Abbot watched the opening ceremony and liked it.

No normal morning news, every phone-in is on the subject for whatever reason, for the sake on sanity - GIVE IT A REST!! Not everyone is obsessed with sport, some of us hate it with a vengeance.

Thank goodness for Freeview on TV, at least some stations are giving it a wide berth and I enjoyed watching Ghostbuster 2 last evening, I'd not seen it before.

My heart's sinking as we have two more weeks of it, two more weeks of blanket coverage of stuff that I haven't got the slightest interest in. Roll on the closing ceremony and then let that be the end of it.

For a minute there - as always - I thought we'd been closed down!

I went out this afternoon, the roads around were very quiet, but this part of London seemed to have a buzz about it.

Saw two ultra-fit and beautiful young Scandinavian men in my local chemist, I immediately thought 'Olympic visitors' and when they passed me, they indeed had official Olympic badges on! If they're what the Olympics is bringing in - long may it last! I could get used to this.

For some reason I'm unable to quote from the last (locked) part of the thread, but this is in reply to Kiko H Fan who said -

'Doris' is an acceptable, even amusing and affectionate name for women in Wales. Many Welsh people use it.

Even so, I can't help but remember the way Jim (yuk) Davidson used it, which was in no way affectionate, and neither was he Welsh!

Get you!! Actually be careful. I know you and I are the same age and my mate who I drive to London calls me a pervert when she asks me what I think about the fat, balding, fifties something bloke and I'm looking at the twenty-seven year old next to him!

Who would have believed it - RM is enjoying the Olympics.

Anyone who knows me knows I have an eye for good lookers of all ages, MK!

To my amazement I am actually enjoying it - not seen too much on telly yet, it's all a bit confusing to work out what's on and where - and I draw the line at 'ball games' - but the gymnastics and swimming are great.

On the topic of LBC, Poor Iain Dale got himself in a bit of bother last night over an innocent remark he made on Twitter. Don't know if he's mentioned it at all as I've only just tuned in. But he came in for a fair bit of abuse.

Haha really glad that you're finding something to enjoy. Hope it continues.

As far as ball games, twitter and Iain Dale, well, I'm a perfect innocent and shall remain so.

I'm covering my ears to the miserable lot who are moaning. I'm honoured to share my wonderful City and just wish I could see more of the Games. The traffic so far in London is flowing better than it ever does and long may that continue. I'm leaving home a bit earlier but if that is all I have to do then I'm one happy fan.

I can't understand people who waste so much precious time trying to be so unpleasant - you have to be very thick-skinned to enter the fray.

On the other hand you could call me a coward for not wanting to participate!
Posting on this thread is in the main far more civilised!

And to follow on from my last post and to reinforce what I mean about the sheer hatred that twitter engenders, the headline in this evening's Huff is all about the tweets Tom Daley has been receiving about "letting down his dead dad". And worse.

I didn't read any further but as his father recently died of brain cancer this is as sick as it gets.
