According to trackboy 13 on Gallifrey Base. He says the episode will feature something else that's new, sparking speculation about a new theme tune arrangement.

I hope this is true, as a new sequence and theme music would freshen the show up a bit.

Anyone could say that though. Any evidence of it?

trackboy13 has been a solid source for a number of items in the past. Recently, as an example, he was first to reveal "Asylum of the Daleks" as the first episode title - a month before BFI mistakenly advertised it.

I love a good remix of the theme, and I think the imageary of the title sequence (clouds, lightning etc) is more tied into the series 5 arc than anything else
(IE the lightning looks more like the cracks in the universe than actual...you know....space...lightning...)

I'd like to see the theme taken back to it's origins for the 50th anniversary year.

...by that I mean perhaps a re-recording of the original using the same method of multiple tape machines playing different parts made up of sampled notes

GallifreyBase has an unrivalled reputation for getting things right and weeding out the baloney. If you didn't know that already, become a member and haunt the spoiler section. Then you will see all the nuggets of info they get which turn out to be correct. And there's a whole lot of them. So when GB thinks something is very likely, and not a made up story, I have learned to trust it.

But this is just a poster on GB and GB has a policy of not encouraging questioning about a poster's credentials so the good gets mixed in with the bad......time has shown posters such as Mr F, ConstellationScorpio or Timeboy to be creditable sources but I don't know if it applies to this poster yet. Yes there are good spoilers there but there's also an awful lot of crap.

This posters remark came after a tweet from SM that he'd just seen the new.... with no explanation of what the new.... was. So he could just be taking a punt on what the new.... is.

so whatever trackboy is on about, it has little to do with Moffat's tweet

But as pointed out on here, it can't be SM was refering to as there is no way he would only just have seen them at the time of his tweet.

He wanted to create hype for the episode, and had just watched the near finished version on screen for the first time. He does the same thing in DWM every series "blah blah blah... I just saw this close up! ooh! blah blah hint spoilers blah blah blah"

Isn't that adding two and two together to make 5? Knowing Moffat and his talent for promotion it could well be revealed in the future as "I've just seen the new snack size Sugar Puffs at Sainsbury's - Wowsers! What, you thought it was show related.....silly you!"

ETA I hope it is a brand new title sequence and hopefully a rearranged theme.

AFAIK the tweet was directly related to Moffat watching ep 1 of the new series, and he said as much in the tweet.

I think a new title sequence makes sense. We're getting a new companion and Clara's debut really does sort of further throw into the run of the 50th anniversary in a way.
