They *completely* should have postponed the whole thing until the result of the thingy with Sky, IMHO.
I largely agree, but there's no harm in moving the HD channels in the meantime. Otherwise the consultation should be written off and they should start again with different terms of reference.

I have received an on screen message, stating I should retune on the 19th Sept, but only on my Freeview HD boxes, not on my SD boxes, not or my TV's which are all SD, but HD suitable, with HDMI inputs.

I am on a Freeview Lite relay transmitter, does this mean I only need to retune my HD boxes, and not any of my SD boxes or TV's, if they don't auto retune ?

I note however after a quick search that BBC 4 is moving from CH8 to CH9, so presumably then having to retune everything ?

TIA

BBC Four should already be on channel 9 on your Freeview box. Channel 8 is used in Scotland and Wales for BBC Alba and S4C respectively.

Standard definition - only viewers on "Freeview Lite" transmitters should see no change to TV and radio services. However data services such as BBC Red Button on channel 105 are changing numbers. So it's not really that important to retune in such instances.

One of the websites I found obviously got their facts wrong.

Not yours !!

Maybe there was confusion somewhere between BBC4 and Ch4, the latter being on LCN 8 in Wales with S4C being on LCN 4.

Gold should be moved to the bottom as it never transmitted free-to-air

Note: Further changes announced in July are on hold pending the outcome of two channel appeals.
From the DMOL website.

We no Sky have appealed any one no who the other channel is that have appealed?

Hi! All
What about those of us in areas where Switch Overs are taking place do we still need to retune all televisions/equipment whether Freeview HD or SD?, we live in the Tyne Tees region and have retuned this week with the next retune[Switch-Over Stage 2] due on 26th September.

So do we still retune on 19th September as well?.

Now that UKTV have announced these changes, it is more likely that you will want to- if you want the channel numbers in the right places. Otherwise wait a week.

Suspect 50-54 could be channels used in Manchester on the local mux?

So should we deduce the following?

* the HD channels are not moving on 19/9/12
* DMOL are expecting 51-53 to be vacated by HD before or on 24/10/12
* Argos TV will move to 50 when the HD channels move

No, because 50-54 could be used by the Manchester local mux before then.

lndeed, kasg, and that means that we'll have an additional retune to do once all the infighting is over.

I thought rearranging of channels was only allowed if the new order was more logical? How is that more logical?

(If it weren't for Gold, they could be going alphabetical )

UKTV own all 4 of those EPG slots, presumably they can do what they want with them. Makes sense to have Dave, clearly the most popular of the 4, at the lowest EPG number.

Yep, DragonQ, the more popular Dave and Really have moved up the EPG whilst Yesterday and GOLD have been shunted due south.

The other channel to appeal could be Channel 5, who wanted 105 reserved for their HD service, this would then tie in with the HD channels not moving.
