Exactly, BBC HD can be on 102 until it changes to BBC Two HD. Everyone knows it's going to happen anyway, what could possibly be the problem?

Also, what are the 4 channels on the Manchester multiplex?

I am actually getting rather cross about all this. Grrr.

But BBC HD is LCN54 and could only get reshuffled to LCN105 after S4C Clirlun. Waiting until it becomes BBC Two HD allows the channel to jump the rest.

DMOL is supposed to play by its own rules these days.

That is perfectly possible (legally) on freeview while it is Not on Sky or Virgin or freesat - it is just a box function.

Sorry, but I thought it had already been agreed that BBC HD would take LCN102 in the reshuffle.

I don't get why it could not take 102? Why would it have to take 105 and follow S4C Clirlun?

As kasg says, the final DMOL document sets aside 101 and 102 for the BBC HD channels.

Page 18:

Quote:
“We also proposed numbering the HD channels in line with their SD equivalents, at 101, 102 and so on. Allocating LCN positions 101 and 102 to the BBC HD channels, which have PSB status, provides them with the appropriate prominence at the head of the genre that they are entitled to under section 310 of the Communications Act.”

OK, the BBC HD channel does not have an SD equivalent, but should that really matter at this stage?

I seem to be defending DMOL which is not a position I am happy to be in. While not condoning what they are doing I am attempting to explain their actions. When BBC HD turns into BBC Two HD, the channel will then be eligible for LCN102 status. IMHO as BBC HD it is not.

But DMOL may have other reasons.

Sorry Ray, I'm not trying to be argumentative (and I appreciate your position regarding defending DMOL), but where is this eligibility stated? What rule must be followed?

For the sake of a few weeks, why would it matter that much?

Suggestion:

Shopping channels should move to 60s
Adult channels should be moved to the 500s
Children/News Channels can stay where they are
Radio can move to 100s
Buffer needed between 301 and the adult channels
Teletext will be found at the 700s
HD channels can take there SD numbers and the SD Numbers will be at the buffer part of the EPG

I know there has been much discussion on here about the upcoming retune.
But does anybody actually know whether or not this re-tune will take place next week or not, I work in a hotel and have 50 tvs to retune, I don't want to waste my time if its not happening

There's probably no need to retune, a number of channels are changing numbers. Unless you find you have lost channels, it's not worth the bother.

You don't need to do anything whether it happens or not - if you do nothing, all the channels will continue on their existing LCNs. If you've got that many to do, just leave it until the current exercise is all sorted out, whenever that might be.

With respect, there is absolutely no point in posting that on this thread. There has been a consultation, DMOL published the outcome, made some decisions, broadcasters appealed against it and it is now an unholy mess.

DUK says
Quote:
“Please Note - No channels will be lost if you do not re-tune, however we recommend that you retune in order to ensure your TV Guide is up to date.

Viewers in Northern Ireland and Tyne Tees will not need to retune outwith their switchover dates.”

A couple of flaws: Canis Media implied that five out of the six channels were filled when they said one channel was still available at the beginning of this month, but DMOL have only allocated 4 channels. And how come Marketplace can leapfrog Argos? Only if "they" (whoever they are) applied for a slot first?

Have added a basic blue navigation bar on my Freeview channel guide page http://www.a516digital.com/p/freeview-channel-list.html to help you see what *should* be where on the retune dates. Mobile users will see a mobile-friendly version.

Don't they also have LCN 8 and 45?

They are for new local TV stations, not available for other commercial channels.

One *might* be using Ch 45, as that *may* be available in Manchester for commercial local channel usage.

I assume they did. Ch 61 implies that they applied and were allocated the next one. Argos would have got Ch 62 (or 66 or whatever), reshuffled down to Ch 55. As 55 is already vacant, and 50 isn't, Marketplace have had a slight delay on their permanent allocation until the HD channels are moved.

Have them side-by-side here, and you can sort by the new LCN if desired: http://www.unsatisfactorysoftware.co.uk/dtt

Why don't you just delete them? Solved the problem for me.

It doesn't really solve it if you actually would like to have the option of seeing (at least some of) the shopping channels.

Why don't you buy a decent tv that lets you re order the channels in the order you want them.

This whole thread then becomes pointless.

Er... no it doesn't, as the numbers are still changing. This thread also has information about new channel launches, which have been 'accidentally' announced as part of the change.

I seen a advert on really saying to retune on the 19 as Dave, Yesterday & Really? I presume is moving channels. Are they the only channels moving?

If you read the last page or so of this thread, all of the info is there
