According to a post in the Holby community forum from KittyKat..she says:

Tonights episode marks 5 without Luc, and 7 weeks since he started filming. He's not in the next 2 weeks as we know due to spoilers. Which means thatt'll be 7 episdoes without him and 9 weeks since he started filming. I think we're looking at early sept. Although I'd prefer august 21st since we know hes not in the 7th or the 14th

Maybe he is the rebound guy. He should be the opposite of Luc, more socially interactive than our Luc.
I hope Sacha doesn't get on with him, so I can hate max even more ( but knowing Sacha, he is such loveable person, he should be part of the UN negotiation team).

Thats exactly what I got from that clip too!! Can imagine him being worse than Luc when it comes to 'abandoning' people'...if thats possible
Reckon he'll be a cocky one...someone who probably is a flirt but has loads of girls on the go at the same time or something..

To be honest, I think this guy is designed to remind her of Luc. I think we'll see his return when this guy is settled. Maybe a few weeks.
Hope the Max & Luc scenes crossover. I know I said I didnt want a love triangle & I dont, But after seeing that clip I think its more complex than that.
I see alot of Luc in Max. The mystery of him perhaps.

Brilliant, thanks for the clip girls, good to see them returning to this storyline next week!! He looks like this guys got a dark side how interesting, to see how it pans out, no contest to Luc though that's my opinion!!

After watching that clip, I agree with your analysis on this Max. I don't think he is as eccentric as Luc and this Max seems to be more socially adept with people. Not sure what his bedside manner will be with the patient.
Luc on the other hand can be abrasive, too judgmental at first sight but later tends to develop a softer approach. Also, he seems to connect with misfits and people who are on the edge of society. Hope you get my drift here.
Still a Luc loyalist.
Is it me only, but the picture of that clip on the bbc website with Max and Eddi together, wasn't there a similar one with Eddi and Luc, I am sure, or am I hallucinating?

Also when I was watching it, I was thinking, have I not seen this before? They seem to have mirrored the start of the Leddi relationship in my opinion, thats what I got from that clip.

Also when he says "Im only the locum" at the end...he really freaks me out. Sounds creepy
Don't like beards either. Like my mum always says, Never trust a man with a beard!

Yes, its a little banter, the start of sexual tension again and an underlying flirtyness from Max, he is sort of charming her in a way. I think Eddi is intrigued by him. Whereas with Luc, she was totally antagonistic to Luc, she hated him and he was equally playing up his wind up merchant role annoying Eddi constantly. Remember the first episode of Luc.
EDIT: There is something unsettling about his demeanour.
