Yeah, I quite liked Dr Birdwood on first impression - a little bit quirky but a good doctor. I think she will get on with Luc (both observational, interested in research, traveled a lot). Actually, I'm curious as to what their dynamic will be like, especially with Luc in a state of Edd-less denial (aren't we all?!). In other news, Jack Ryder (the would-be thief) has not aged well since his days in EastEnders, bless him.
Chantelle's storyline worked well. It was great to see her stand up to Mary-Claire. I also liked Rhys, nice to see Gareth David-Lloyd back on screen, it was sweet that he looked out for Chantelle.
I was watching the episode going, "So you're not going to mention Eddi then? Or where Luc is? Dr Birdwood, you can't go ignoring Our Favourite Extra!" and so on.
The Hanssen stuff, well, it's nice to see Guy Henry being given more to do than look mysterious but I'm not usually overly fussed with the politics side of things and it isn't particularly grabbing me this time around either.
But yeah, not too bad an episode for me - partly because The Departure doesn't seem real, so I just felt kind of relaxed that there wasn't a storyline that could influence my mood for the rest of the week!
